Happy Birthday, Susan!

Today is my sister’s birthday, and no I won’t tell you how old she is, except to say she is older than me (and always will be!).  Her favorite color is red, always has been, and she have loved clothes ever since we were young.  So I thought it was only fitting to create her a birthday card that was all dressed up in red.

All Dressed Up!

A red polka dress; it was created in flash!  One piece of Summer Smooches DSP # 125409 and one trip through the Big Shot die-cutting & embossing machine with the Dress Up Framelits die # 130101 and my dress was done.  A belt of Whisper White card stock, and a flower punched from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack # 118309 fastened with a 1/8″ mini brad # 122941 was all the embellishing this dress needed.  The sentiment was taken from the Create A Cupcake stamp set # 121982.  The stark Real Red and Whisper White color combo creates such a striking contrast that I left things simple and let the bold colors make the statement for me.

Thank you Eleanor

When the annual catalog for 2012 was released last June, one of the first stamp sets to make it to the top of my ‘must-have’ list was Everything Eleanor.  The swirl/flourish image, the vintage background image, the pretty flowers & bird, the bordered circle image (just right for journaling in a scrapbook), all called my name.  But for some reason, it is one of my most under-used stamp sets too!  I set out to change that this weekend.  With a boatload of thank-you cards that I need to make and send out, this was the first set I turned to, even though it doesn’t have a thank-you sentiment in the set.  For that, I enlisted the help of a new friend, Pretty Petites which I got for FREE from the current Sale-A-Bration catalog along with the coordinating Petite Curly Label Punch which I also got for FREE during Sale-A-Bration.  And they coordinate with the Curly Label Punch for layered goodness.  A simple piece of ribbon and a pearl for finishing touches and I’m all done. My color combination was a monochromatic look starting with Very Vanilla cardstock, Sahara Sand ink for the background swirl, Soft Suede ink to stamp the worn background image and Early Espresso cardstock and ink for the Thank You sentiment.

Hello, Pals Paper Art #153

PPA153 Sketch Challenge

PPA153w-frameGet ready! It’s time for another fun Pals Paper Arts challenge! This week, our Resident Artist, Margaret Moody, has a new sketch for us.

Pals Paper Art

I’m Loving the Print Poetry Designer Series paper stack from the new Spring catalog.
I’m also loving the new Petite Curly Label punch and matching Pretty Petites stamp set that coordinates with it – both of which I for for FREE from our Sale-A-Bration promotion going on now.  Gotta love that!  The other thing I love, Summer Starfruit!  Each time I use that color, I like it more & more.  And that 3/8″ stitched satin ribbon is such a nice ribbon; it’s soft and drapes nicely but yet holds its shape and ties so well.  I have this ribbon in each of the 5 In-Colors it’s offered in.
I love the new In-Colors for 2012-2014 and love the way our colors coordinate throughout the product line; from cardstock to DSP, to ink, to ribbon & accessories.
What’s your favorite In-Color?  Leave me a comment and let me know.
Thanks for stopping by My Stampin Space today.  Come back again, until then, Happy Stampin’!

Mojo Monday, Baby!

Well today is Monday so it’s time to get your Mojo on with the stampers over at Mojo Monday.  Here is the sketch that was provided and below that you’ll see my take on it.

I needed to make a baby card and this layout provided just the right basis for that.  I used the image from Embellished Events and the sentiment from Itty Bitty Banners.  The coordinating Bitty Banners Framelits  and a quick pass thru the Big Shot machine made easy work of cutting out the banner in the same shape as the stamped image.  The Big Shot and my Circles #2 die made easy work of cutting out all the circles, too and as well as adding the Polka Dots embossing to the solid color circle.   My color combination of Summer Starfruit, Primrose Petals and Raspberry Ripple came from the luscious Print Poetry Designer Series paper stack available in the Spring Catalog.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my entry for today’s challenge.  Now, its’ time for YOU to get your mojo on.  Use this sketch for your project.  Leave me a comment and let me know what you think of this project – if you really like it, feel free to pin it to your Pinterest board or share it with a friend thru Facebook.  Happy Stampin’!

See you soon!  – Nancy

Wishing You Happiness…

I was inspired to make this quick little Valentine’s project after teaching a class on Digitial Scrapbooking last week.

valentines-001What I love about digital designing is that you can try out different color combos, embellishments, stamps, and not waste any paper!  Every stamped image always looks good, no more uneven stamped images, or mis-cut paper.  The undo key is a digi-scrappers best friend!  I love being able to color each part of an image in a different color.  I used the re-color option to color each part of the stamp in different color on the card above.    If you would like to try out digi-scrapping without any commitment, click here or on the free 30-day trial of MDS2 on the right and get started.

And we know that you probably have lots of digital photos just waiting to be inserted into a digital scrapbook!  So go ahead, you’ll have fun!

PPA150 Color Challenge

The first color challenge of the new year was just what I needed to get me back in the saddle again!  I realized that I haven’t stamped, or posted anything on my blog for over 6 weeks until just the other day.  I NEEDED to get back to stamping to get my sanity back.  Stamping is therapy!    I love the color combination that our pals came up with.

So here is my entry:  I hope you like it.

PPA150

I used Melon Mambo embossing powder to emboss the flower image and sentiment.

I thought the flower needed a little bling so I added a center from Silver Glimmer paper topped with a jumbo pearl which I colored black.

Thanks for stopping into My  Stampin’ Space.  Come back again, or better yet, sign-up to receive my newsletter or subscribe to my RSS Feedburner Feed so you’ll never miss a post!

Mojo Monday 267

This week we had a great sketch to work with from the designers at Mojo Monday.  Here’s the sketch…

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jlv0mqiIIn4/UKLl57aO6PI/AAAAAAAALN0/hycGanE9dQA/s1600/Mojo267Sketch.gif

and here’s my take on it….

Mojo Monday 267My father-in-law is very ill and currently in the ICU.  I thought he needed something to cheer him up, and since my brand new “So Sorry” stamp set was just waiting to be used, it was a match made in heaven!  I love the grey herringbone pattern in the Howlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Series Paper # 126906.  Nothing halloween-y about this pattern; it’s all masculine.  Just perfect for the base for a get-well card for a man.  I love the Basic Gray and Summer Starfruit color combination so it’s no surprise that this was the only color combination I even considered.  The little piece of ribbon is tied only in a knot, no bow here!   The flag in a striped pattern of Summer Starfruit sets off the grey, adding some cheerfulness without being girly.

I think the finished product is a winner!  Nice and cheery but still masculine.  And Dad seemed to cheer up a bit when I gave it to him so, mission accomplished.

Twisted Gift Card

One of the hottest trends right now is a twisted card; and since it is such a great way to give a gift card, it’s very timely too!  Well, I had a gift card to give – to my hubby; we just celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary!  So I thought I’d whip up a quick card to give him a gift card.  I gave him a gift card to the movie theaters so we could have a date night.  Yup, even after 24 years, I still LOVE going on a date with my hubby 🙂

Anyway, the card was quick & easy but in rushing, I folded the card closed BEFORE I let the ink dry, oops!   A little smudgy but, the good thing is my hubby loves me, smudges & all!

So twist cardthis is what I came up with.   I knew I wanted to use the champagne flutes from the  Embellished Events stamp set. And I wanted a simple, classy black & white theme.  I blinged it up a bit by stamping the image in Metallic Silver ink and embossing in clear embossing powder.  Rhinestones were used to create the bubbles.  Basic Black glimmer brads completed the touch.

(My mind always goes to food – when I created the circle, half black, half white to layer the champagne glasses onto – all I could think of was a black & white cookie!  Now I need to go to a good Jewish deli to get one – do I see a road trip to NY in my future?)

Making a twisted card naturally creates a pocket both on the front and the inside.  While I glued the front pocket closed, I took full advantage of this pocket to hold my gift card.  A sentiment from Hand Penned Holidays (now retired) provided the perfect sentiment to convey my feelings!  Twisted card inside

So what do you think of this “Twisted Card”?  Would you like to learn to make one?  I’m thinking of creating a video tutorial – please leave me a comment and let me know if you’d like to learn how to do this to give out your gift cards this Christmas.  If I get good feedback, I’ll make a tutorial.   Thanks for your input!

Mojo Monday 255

Here’s the sketch:

And here’s my card!

Since summer is rapidly drawing to a close, I thought using the Summer Smooches DSP would be a great tribute to Summer and the Daffodil Delight Ribbon would add the perfect summery finishing touch!  Of, course the sentiment “Live in the Sunshine” pays tribute to our summer sunshine too!
