Tabs For Everything, Even Birthdays!

One of my favorite perks of being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator is getting sneak peeks of new catalogs and products before everyone else and attending events, like OnStage in April in Richmond, VA, and getting FREE products just for attending!   One of the stamp sets I got is a set called Tabs For Everything, and it has a coordinating punch (which I didn’t get, but it’s on its way to  me now!)  You can save 10% when you purchase this as a Bundle.

This set has so much potential for making tabs when used with the coordinating punch, and I think it will be a match made in heaven paired with the new “Love Today” Planner Kit!  You can see how awesome the Planner is by watching the video here.

It also has great potential for making fabulous cards!  Like this one:Tabs For Everything - Even Birthdays!

I was inspired for the color combination of Night of Navy, Smokey Slate, and LemonLime Twist by the jacket a fellow was wearing the other day.  (I see Stampin’ Up! colors everywhere!)  I mentioned to a fellow stamper that I could make a card with those colors, and she said she couldn’t wait to see what I came up with!

I liked this card, and color combination so much that I decided to make another card in a similar color combination of Dapper Denim, Basic Grey and Lemon Lime Twist.  What do you think?

Tabs for Everything - Even Birthdays!

Here are the two colors side by side:

Tabs for everything - even birthdays!

So which color combination do you like best?  Leave me a comment with your choice.

Here are the color combinations for your reference:

Dapper Denim, Basic Gray and Lemon Lime Twist

Because this is a birthday card, I decided to enter this into The Paper Players challenge.  The Paper Players Challenge 347

See how well this fits into the challenge?  Simple, right?  You can click here or on the picture above to head over to the The Paper Players challenge and be inspired by all the other entries featuring Birthday themed projects.

I hope you’ll seriously add the new “Love Today” Planner Kit! and the Tabs For Everything Bundle to your next order.  You can click here to shop my online store.  Please use the Host Code shown on the top of this page.

Thanks for visiting me in My Stampin Space today.  Come again, the door is always open and the Keurig is always on, ready to brew you a fresh cup!

Happy Birthday, Gorgeous

Happy Birthday, Gorgeous.  I have to admit I I ‘passed over’ this stamp set my first, and probably second, trip thru the catalog.  I did like the die that is bundled with it, and LOVED that Stampin’ Up! is now offering adhesive sheets for the intricate dies like the “Happy Birthday” die.  But the stamp set just wasn’t calling my name, truth be told.  But I earned this bundle for free, so  I started taking notice of the potential of this ‘sleeper’ stamp set and discovered how much I LOVE this bundle called Happy Birthday, Gorgeous!  The flowers works great with the 2-step stamping and just as well on their own.

I needed a project to do at a workshop.  I wanted something easy for any skill level, yet something that would have some ‘Wow!” factor.  These flowers are so easy to work with, and a simple masking technique creates the “Wow!” factor.

Happy Birthday Gorgeous

A few of the absolutely gorgeous Glitter Enamel Dots add the finishing touch!

You can easily recreate this card – just place a 1-1/4″ strip of scrap paper across the center; stamp your flowers then remove the scrap paper.  You’ll be left with a nice clean slate to stamp your sentiment. Easy Peasy!

You can purchase this stamp set by itself or bundle it with the HappyBirthday die  and save 10%.

This is one bundle that I would highly recommend make it to the top of your ‘must-have’ list.  It is so versatile and fun and everyone needs birthday cards so you’ll reach for this over and over again, and every project can have a totally different look!  From the flowers to the balloons to the banners and the great sentiments that can be paired together and the various font and sizes, it’s an all around winner!

The colors I used to create this card are Powder Pink, Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist and Bermuda Bay.  A great colorful color combination!  Feel free to save this color combination for your own use.  You can ‘pin’ this picture.

Stampin Up Color Combo

Thanks for visiting My Stampin Space today.  Be sure to visit my online store to grab your Happy Birthday Gorgeous bundle today!   Please leave me a comment and tell me what you like most about this card!

See you soon!

What were the 1st things I ordered from the New Catalog?

So exciting, you can now order from the new catalog!  And I bet you probably want to know what were the 1st things I ordered from the new catalog?

Well since I have the privilege of ordering many items in advance (love that perk of being a demonstrator!), there weren’t too many stamp sets and bundles I ordered as I am so EXCITED about all the accessories offered in this catalog!  I did order a few stamp set and here they are:

Lemon Zest bundle

Lemon Zest was the #1 Bundle that I just had to have!  I LOVE IT – it is so fresh and zesty, and perfect for summertime!

Beautiful Bouquet

Beautiful Bouquet Bundle was #2 on my list – I love the font style in the sentiments and thought the sentiments offered a well-rounded array of sayings for different occasions.  Of course the flowers are just so versatile too!

Crafting Forever

Crafting Forever is my #3 must have!  I just love this set and all the images in it.  I think it will be fun in so many different ways.  And of course, I agree with all of the sentiments!

Then there are the accessories, of course I had to get all of the new 2017-19 InColors in cardstock, ink, markers, and every color of ribbon, and the new little mini bows.

But did you see we now offer MINI Stampin’ Dimensionals?   I can’t live without dimensionals and I’m often cutting them in half to pop up tiny pieces.  And the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets?  The answer to gluing on those intricate die cuts!

And the Embossing Paste?   You can see that here.

And the Ribbon!  Oh my, I’m in Ribbon heaven!  I just want it all!  So, I am thinking of offering Ribbon Shares.  What are Ribbon Shares?  I’m glad you asked – ribbon shares are a great way to get alot of ribbon without the big price tag!  Basically, I would offer a grouping of ribbon and split each roll in 4.  When 4 people buy the ribbon share, I will divide the ribbons and mail each one to you.  So for instance, you could get 2.5 yards of all 5 colors of the InColor 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon for only $11.25!  If you would be interested in a Ribbon Share, please let me know.

So now that you know what I ordered,  WHAT IS ON YOUR ORDER?  If you need help, ask me.  I’ll help you get the most that you can for your money.

To place an order with me today, please click here and use Host Code 2HH3XWVE.   Then share with me what was the #1 product that you had to have today.  I love to hear your comments.

Happy Stampin’ and Happy Shopping!

How My Bad Hair Cut will Help YOU become a Better Paper Crafter

I’m still suffering the trauma of a bad hair cut the other day.  Not your average bad cut, mind you.  I’m talking a BAD. HAIR. CUT.  Really Bad!!! The kind that makes me want to put a bag over my head before going out in public Bad.  Yes, it’s really that bad.  Butchered might even be the best way to describe it.

I always liked my long hair, and my husband loved it.  He would always compliment me and tell me how pretty my hair looked, and how he loved it long.  My hair was much longer than shoulder length; it was middle of my back.  Well, I’ll let the video tell the rest of the story….

So how does My Bad Hair Cut Make YOU a Better Paper Crafter?  Mistakes.  We all make them.  I’m sure that the gal who cut my hair was not malicious in her intent; it was a mistake.  Admittedly a big one.  But she made a mistake.  In a few years I might look back and laugh.  After all, it’s only hair and it will grow back… eventually.

When it comes to paper crafting, I’ve made a lot of mistakes.  For a funny story of a big mistake I made while teaching a class, you can see this blog post that I shared.   My mistakes have become good teachers.  I’ve never made the same mistake twice because I’ve learned from it.  In fact, if you’ve ever taken a class with me, you’ll know that I’m fond of saying  “A well placed embellishment can cover most mistakes, for the rest, well, there’s always a new piece of paper!”  A fresh start, a clean slate, a redo.  I can usually recover from a mistake quite well because of all I’ve learned the hard way.

I’ve never condemned anyone in my classes for making a mistake.  (I usually have extra paper on hand just for such occasions!)  And now, I’m going to share with you some tips and tricks to make you a better paper crafter based on the bits of wisdom I gleaned from making mistakes.

For starters, there’s always the basic, “Check the direction of the fold on your card base BEFORE gluing anything down!”  If you want to know why I’m always saying that (and checking my own card base)  read this blog post.

My next favorite saying while I’m teaching my classes is “Dry fit your layers BEFORE applying glue!”  It just works a lot better if you know where you’re going before you put glue on it.  Trust me.

Please make sure you use the buttons on the right to sign up for my newsletter AND like my Facebook page, AND subscribe to me on YouTube.  I’ll be making some videos in the next few days showing you some tips I’ve learned from my mistakes.  Hopefully, you will learn from my mistakes and you’ll just be wiser and pick up a few pointers.

Let’s Celebrate…50!

A big milestone birthday is always a reason to celebrate!  And a chance to play with new InColors that just arrived is also a reason to celebrate.  Combine the 2 together, and fun, fun, fun!

This card features the new color Berry Burst.  It’s a fun, bold and vibrant shade that’s not really pink but not purple either.  It’s a fun trendy color and it plays so well with Rich Razzleberry here for the balloons.  I used these colors as an accent against black and silver (after all it is a 50 birthday!).  Let's Celebrate 50!

You’ll notice that I’m using a number of retiring products along with the new In Color.  This time of year, I like to combine the old and the new.  After the new catalog makes its debut June 1st, I’ll stop showing the retiring product.  I like to only show you what you can buy so if you want to recreate my projects you can!

The Number of Years stamp set and Large Number Framelits are carrying over (I die cut the number 50 from Silver Foil sheets).  The Confetti TIEF and the Balloon Adventures stamp set and Balloon PopUp Thinlits dies are being retired.  If you want either of these items; you need to shop my store NOW!  They are only available while supplies last.

The recipient of this card was Sue, my husband’s admin assistant at work.  Her husband threw her a surprise party, and boy, was she surprised!  She was totally caught off guard.  After she regained her composure, she had a really good time.  And so did we!

Well, I have more InColors to show you, and more playing around with Daisy Delight and Color Theory.  Come back again soon.

Everything is Coming Up Daisies

Daisies, the quintessential flower of summer.  Who doesn’t love daisies?  They are simple, whether grown in your garden, or growing wild in a field or meadow.  White petals or yellows, daisies are simple and carefree.  And I think the new product suite from Stampin’ UP! Meet Filomena the Flying Pig!

I’ve been in love with “This Little Piggy” this new stamp set that will be available June 1st.  I chose to name each of the 4 pigs in this stamp set.  I think Filomena is the perfect name for a flying pig.  So without any further adieu, please meet Filomena the Flying Pig!

This LIttle Piggy

If you missed my first blog post using this new stamp set, you can see that here.  That card was my most pinned item during the month of April!

When I saw the sketch for the CAS(E) this Sketch! challenge, I knew I had to use This Little Piggy again, with Filomena the flying pig.  Here’s the sketch that inspired this card.

CAS(E) this Sketch! 219You can visit the sketch challenge to see how other’s used this sketch  here.

She’s just adorable, isn’t she? Here’s a close-up of her – she looks so pleased with herself that she’s flying!  She believed she could, so she put on her wings, and so she did!

Filomenia the Flying Pig

There are two other pigs that you haven’t met you.  I hope to show them to you soon.   In the meantime, please enjoy Daisy and Filomena.  And make room in your craft room for Daisy, Filomena and two others to move in.  They’ll be packed and ready on June 1st!

See you soon.

Meet the New 2017-19 In Colors!

Well you saw the unveiling of all of my new products from my pre-order, if you follow me on Facebook. I did a live video of me unpacking my box from Stampin’ Up! with all of the new products I ordered. One of most anticipated items of the annual catalog release is the new In-Colors. Every year, Stampin’ Up! introduces 5 new colors, they are trendy colors and are only with us for 2 years. and they are called In-Colors. They are in addition to the standard color collections (Neutrals, Regals, Brights & Subtles). So at any given time, we have 10 In-Colors, and every year, 5 retire and 5 more are introduced.
Here are the 5 new In-Colors for 2017-2019.
2017-19 In Colors

I’ve made some quick comparisons so you can see the new colors alongside  our favorite colors.  You’ll see that these new colors play well with our existing color palette.

First up is Lemon-Lime Twist.  This color is like  none other that we’ve ever had.  It’s much more Yellow than any green, and much more green than any yellow.  It’s bright and vibrant and will certainly add fun to your projects!

Lemon Lime Twist Color Comparison

Next is Tranquil Tide.  A rich blue-green color, it’s blue-er than Emerald Envy and green-er than Island Indigo.  This color will play well with both of these colors and add a sense of richness to your projects.  Tranquil Tide Color Comparison

Next up is Fresh Fig.  I love this color; it reminds me of our retired, but not forgotten Blackberry Bliss color.  Not quite as dark and rich as that, but it is a deeper color than Rich Razzleberry, but more brown than a true purple like Elegant Eggplant.  Fresh Fig Color Comparison

Berry Burst is going to be a popular, well loved color.  Already I have been seeing this color in alot of clothing.  This sits well between Rose Red and Rich Razzleberry.

Berry Burst Color Comparison

Lastly is Powder Pink.  A pale, subtle color that sits right between our other light pink colors.  Powder Pink Color Comparison

So which color do you think is your favorite?  Please leave me a comment and let me know which color you like best.

While we say hello to new colors, we say goodbye to other retiring colors. If you want to shop the 2015-17 In Colors or order them before they are gone, here is a link to order directly.   Don’t forget to use the April host code Q29AP26B when you order with me and your order is less than $150 before shipping and tax.  Click here to shop online now, and don’t forget to get your favorite retiring items before they are gone for good.

What’s Better Than Seeing the New Products?

If you follow my Facebook page (and you should!), then you know that I just spent the weekend at a Stampin’ Up! event called OnStage in Richmond, VA. Along with seeing so many other Stampin’ friends, and making many new friends, the hi-light of the event is the reveal of the 2017-2018 Annual Stampin’ UP! Catalog, including the new 2017-2019 InColors, and the new products being introduced in this catalog.

While I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE seeing the new catalog, do you know what I love even more?  Yes, my hubby & son, of course.  But aside from that, more than seeing the new products, I love getting the new products!  And part of the event includes getting several stamp sets that I get to take home with me. How cool is that?   Of course I had to break out these new stamps and play with them today.

My new friend to play with?  This little piggy:

This Little Piggy Makes me so Happy New Products

Isn’t this little just absolutely adorable?   I love him (or her)!  And I’m pretty sure that you love him too, am I right?  This is just perfect for coloring in, I just grabbed my aqua painters, and took a little bit of Flirty Flamingo ink from my ink pad, and filled in a bit of color.  Easy-peasy!  It took me longer to decide if I wanted Flirty Flamingo baker’s twine, Wild Wasabi Baker’s twine, or Linen Thread.  As you can see, I decided on the Linen Thread.  It was just the right weight to add a little something without taking your eye away from the darling piggy!  The Flirty Flamingo flower DSP (Designer Series Paper) in the paper adds to the light-hearted, happy, flowery feeling!

Leave me a comment below if you like this little Piggy, and tell me what you would name him/her.  I think the perfect name would be Daisy.

See you soon with more from the new catalog!

Nancy

Baby Wipe Technique with Video Tutorial

Last night I taught the “Baby Wipe Technique” to the ladies in my stamp class.  It’s a really fun way to create a mottled, multi-colored effect and it’s perfect for any stamp with a large image area.

We had a really fun class and I always love when new people join me for a class!   I consider it a great compliment when a regular student invites a friend to come!  I had two ‘regulars’ invite friends and had 3 new peeps in class!  It really was a great night.  And despite the impending snowstorm/blizzard headed our way, everyone wanted to come to class!   We decided since the snow wasn’t supposed to start until around 11PM, we could have class and get home before any real snow started.  Here is the first project we made:

Baby Wipe Technique, Reverse Words, SaleABration, HoorayFor this card, we used the Reverse Words stamp set (available for FREE thru March 31st during Sale-A-Bration).  I used Pink Piourette, Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry ink.   A bit of bling from the Glimmer Paper Assortment (also FREE during Sale-A-Bration!) and a few metallic sequins finished it off.  Quick, easy and so much WOW!

The next project also featured the Baby Wipe Technique, but we stepped it up a bit with more layers and stamping.

Baby Wipe Technique, Watercolor Wings, Butterfly, Timeless Texture

The Baby Wipe Technique was used to color the background layer of the butterfly which was stamped using an image from the Watercolor Wings stamp set and cropped out using Bold Butterfly Framelits.  A detailed Butterfly was cropped from the Butterflies thinlits from Island Indigo cardstock and layered on top.

The Whisper White layer was stamped using the Timeless Textures stamps in Pool Party and Tip Top Taupe.  The sentiment, from Watercolor Wings, was stamped in Island Indigo ink.

I love this color combination, and I hope you do too!  Don’t forget that Tip Top Taupe will be retiring in a few months.  Stock up now on your favorite Tip Top Taupe items before they are gone.

If you would like to learn how to do the Baby Wipe Technique  you can watch a video tutorial I made here:

Well, if you’re in the Northeast and affected by Blizzard Stella, stay safe and warm!  It’s a good day to hunker down and stamp, in between rounds of shoveling & snowblowing.  Happy Stampin’!
