Playing with the Paper Players

I just love when I make a project, and before I have a chance to post it anywhere, I discover that it fits the bill for a challenge.  Well that’s exactly what happened here when The Paper Players posted their color challenge today.

I posed a question on my Facebook page, asking my readers to respond with their favorite choice of green for St. Patty’s Day.  I promised to randomly select a winner from all the comments to send a St. Patrick’s Day treat.  stampin' up! greensWhen I selected the winner, I wanted to send along a card, and of course the card had to be green, Cucumber Crush, to be exact!  I thought a touch of gold was fitting.  So here is my card:

Yay for Green!

Lots of white and Cucumber Crush green accented with gold!  Just perfect for the Paper Players challenge:

I started with a Stampin’ UP! notecard in Whisper White, added a layer of Cucumber Crush & White diagonally striped paper, a layer of Whisper White adorned with Washi Tape in gold, and a few gold metallic enamel shapes, and a star stamped in Cucumber Crush ink from the Confetti Celebration stamp set.  A few snips from my paper snips cut out the shape in no time!  Fast. Easy. Wow!

By the way, My Green Color Quiz?  It was a dead heat between Emerald Envy and Cucumber Crush!

Sale-A-BrationDon’t forget, we are in the final days of Sale-A-Bration!  Your chance to earn all of these fabulous items is running out.  Place a qualifying order of $50 or more from my online store to earn a free Sale-A-Bration item.  Not sure what Sale-A-Bration is?  Everything you wanted to know about Sale-A-Bration can be found here.

Baby Bear Baby Boy Card

A friend and fellow stamper just had a baby boy, so I needed to make a Baby Card to send to her, and I knew the Baby Bear Baby Boy card was just the ticket! (Phew, that’s a mouthful!)   A few weeks back, I made a baby card for another friend who had  a baby girl.  You can see the Baby Girl card here.

Well, one of the sayings I’m fond of saying is “when you find something that works, stick with it”!  So I decided to make the same card, substituting Pool Party Blue for the Flirty Flamingo pink in my original card.  Here it is:Baby Bear Baby Boy Card

I used the same layout, and the Crumb Cake and white but changed the color from Flirty Flamingo that I used on the baby girl card to Pool Party for today’s Baby Bear baby boy card.

The Pool Party patterned paper  is from the Tasty Treats Designer Series Paper.  I love how the Pool Party grid design is cheerful with a nod to masculine, compared to the Flirty Flamingo polka dot paper that has touch of whimsy and a feminine feel.  Here are the two side by side:

I love this baby card layout that works well for both a baby boy or a baby girl!

It’s easy to make a baby card using the Baby Bear stamp set.  The triple stamp creates the life-like fuzzy texture of the bear, and the photopolymer stamps allow for perfect placement of the 3 images.  The crumb cake and white is a great neutral color combo that works well with so many colors, and the Flirty Flamingo and Pool Party are no exceptions.  While I used a piece of thick Baker’s Twine in a matching color, I placed the bow under the Baby Boy Baby Bear‘s chin, and on the Baby Girl Baby Bear’s head.  For the girl card, I used 3 pearls as an embellishment, while on the boy card, I used a candy dot.

I love the realistic furry detail of the Baby Bear Stamp set

If you need to make a baby card anytime soon, I suggest you get this Baby Bear stamp set.  Remember Sale-A-Bration is in full swing which means that you will get a Free Sale-A-Bration item for every $50 worth of product you order.  Find out all about Sale-A-Bration here.  To place an online order, click here.

Please leave me a comment below and let me know how you like this card.  And please sign up for my mailing list using the sign up box on the right.  Thanks,

WaterColor Pencils Craze & Bonus Video

I’m excited to share a bonus tutorial video with you today featuring the WaterColor Pencils and the Dragonfly Dreams bundle.  I’ve been in love with the WaterColor Pencils when I first saw them back in November.  (Yes, November – as a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator I get to see new products before the catalogs are released!  My favorite perk!  If you want to share in these perks, there’s no better time to join than now.  Ask me how.)

Here is the card I made and taught to my stamp club last week. The ladies loved it, and I hope you do too!

Dragonfly Dreams, Detailed Dragonfly & Watercolor Pencils

Daffodil Delight and Black are a striking color combination, don’t you agree?  But what really makes it is the pop of color from the water colored panel.  I used the WaterColor Pencils with an Aqua Painter to create this focal point.

I created a video to show you how I made it:  Wow, this is like taking a class from me without the drive!  And without the brownies 🙂

Now I know you just want to jump out of your seat and get some watercolor pencils for yourself so you too can join in on the Watercolor Craze Supplies are very limited and are expected to go on backorder soon, SO ORDER THEM RIGHT NOW!  Don’t wait.  Don’t forget to add some Watercolor Paper, Aqua Painters and Blender Pens.  You’ll also want Memento Tuxedo Black Ink if you want to stamp an outline image and then color in with watercoloring.  When you place your order, remember two things: 1)  To order in $50 increments so you can earn FREE Sale-A-Bration items with each order, and 2) to use HOST CODE D3ZEY3UJ when you place an order that is less than $150.

To learn more about Sale-A-Bration, click this picture.

Why use a Host Code?  The host code allows me to earn Stampin’ Rewards on all orders placed thru my online store.    They are used for products that I give away to my customers.  (Just ask Vicky Blackwell who won a Party Animal Prize package as part of my SuperBowl contest. – Read all about that here.) Learn about Stampin’ Rewards hereIf your order totals $150 or more (before tax & shipping) then DO NOT use the host code, but rather redeem the Stampin’ Rewards for yourself.

Please let me know if you enjoyed my tutorial video.  If you like that, then you’d love attending one of my in person classes.  Not only do we have fun and eat brownies, but we make a few projects and I try to teach one new technique at each class.  Click here for a list of upcoming classes.  Not in NE Pennsylvania?  Let me host a Facebook Party for you and your friends instead.

Thanks for stopping by My Stampin Space today, please come back again soon.  If you like what you see, sign up for my mailing list, Like me on Facebook and follow me on Instagram.

And the Winner of the SuperBowl contest is……

Did you watch the SuperBowl?  Well it sure was an upset victory!  Most of my fans were pulling for Atlanta and it sure looked like they were going to win, and then, The Patriots scored and tied in the final minutes and into overtime they went!

The New England Patriots won the game!!!

So here’s the deal;   I counted up my New England Patriots votes, and randomly selected a number, #3, which is Vicky Blackwell!

Superbowl Contest Winner

Congrats to the Vicky Blackwell  – you just won the SuperBowl!   Well, okay, not really the SuperBowl, but it might feel like it when the confetti starts falling all around you, and your fans rush the field to get your autograph, and the cameras are flashing all around you….

Vicky please contact me with your mailing address so I can send your loot to you.  You have until midnight on Wednesday, Feb. 8th.  Party Animal EmbellishmentsYou can email me or PM me on my Facebook page.  I’ll get your winnings right out to you.

Thanks to everyone who played along with me and took the time to leave me a comment.  I had fun, and hope you did too.  Please join me in congratulating our winner, Vicky.

I have a class tomorrow, and I’ll post what we make later this week.  Until then, happy stampin’

Game Time! Who’s Going to Win?

Whether you are a football fan or not, chances are you’ll probably end up watching   Super Bowl LI.  On Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017 the New England Patriots will play against the Atlanta Falcons.  Kick-off time is 6:30PM

Super Bowl 2017

I’d like to play a little game of my own, complete with a Super Bowl Ring for everyone on the winning team!  Ok, maybe not.  But I do have something you’ll really love!  The Super Bowl is one of the biggest parties around, so why not have a little Party of our own, complete with Party Animal prizes?

One lucky winner will win this embellishment package from the Party Animal product suite.  Sweet, right?  (See that little play on words there?)

Party Animals Embellishment Giveaway, Washi Tape, Emeral Envy 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon, Party Animal Embellishments

Leave me a comment saying who you think, or hope, will win the Super Bowl.  Then I will choose one person from among the Winning Answers.  That person wins the Party Animal product suite give-away.  No tackling involved!  Easy, and very safe!

Follow me on Facebook as I’ll be posting the score during the game, so you can see how your team in doing (in case you’re crafting and watching the game!)  Then check in after the game to see who the winner is!

Teaching a New Technique

I teach classes regularly, and I just love getting together with a bunch of people, having fun, and stamping!  Mostly I love watching someone who has never stamped put ink to paper for the first time!  And watching them as they complete their first project successfully never gets old!  I also love sharing new techniques with my students and watching them add a new skill to their paper crafting arsenal!  My classes usually are 2 projects, and I try to not only make a project that is fun and seasonally, but also to include a new tip, trick ,or technique.  I want my students to learn something too, not just make something.

Tonight I wanted to teach heat embossing, as several of the newer regular students have never done that. My upline Lisa Pretto shared a card that she made that I just had to totally CASE (copy and selective edit)!  It was just perfect for my class.  This card includes heat embossing (in white) on colored cardstock for the sentiment and heat embossing white on white AND resist embossing!  Win-Win!  So here’s my take on Lisa’s card:  It features the Avant Garden stamp set (free during Sale-A-Bration) stamped with Versamark ink on whisper white cardstock and them embossed with Whisper White embossing powder.  Resist embossing is accomplished by rubbing ink (with the help of a sponge dauber) in a circular motion aroumd the stamped image.  The ink does not stick where the heat embossing is which creates that soft muted background.  A quick ribbon and a little tag with a sentiment is all you need.

I thought this card could be made in any color, or with any sentiment, so I tried it out in a few other colors.  Here it is in Sweet Sugarplum:

And here in Wisteria Wonder.  My MIL’s birthday is this weekend and she loves purple so this is for her.  I stepped it up a notch by adding a Wisteria Wonder cardstock layer under the feature panel.

Which color is your favorite?  I love to read your comments, so please leave me a comment and tell my what you think of this card, and what color you like the best.

I wish you could attend my classes and learn these new techniques with me.  Next class will include sponge brayers and inking up embossing folders.  If you live in NEPA, consider taking this class with me.  Feb. 6th from 6:30-8:45PM.

Don’t forget, you can always order online from me 24/7 thru my online store.  You can access that here.  When shopping, please use January Host Code 2BUYMMWN when placing an order that is less thaln $150.   When shopping, you’ll earn 1 Free Sale-A-Bration item for every $50 you spend (before shipping and sales tax).  The Avant Garden stamp set used for this project is a FREE Sale-A-Bration stamp set.  Want to learn more about Sale-A-Bration?  Click here.

Love for my Valentine!

As soon as I saw this sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, I knew I wanted to use hearts for the 3 elements.  And since I wanted to make a Valentine’s Day card with my Stamp Class this week, it was the perfect opportunity to make 1 project that fit the bill for both!

And here is the sketch that inspired this design. Freshly Made Sketches #272

A Silver Metallic Foil Doilies is the perfect backdrop for  all of the different hearts in the Sending Love product suite, including the 3D heart which is just perfect for being pierced by an arrow!

I’m so glad that I picked up the Metallic Real Red Embossing Powder from the 2016 Holiday catalog – it adds just the perfect amount of bling for the sentiment.  I originally wanted to use Silver foil sheets for the arrow, but it really didn’t stand out.  I tried black; that really stood out but I wasn’t sure about black on a Valentine’s Day card, so I opted for Pool Party.  It provides enough contrast, but it is subtle enough that it doesn’t jump out as the first element you see.  I am happy with the way it worked out.

The Love Notes Framelites dies are hugely popular: it was just announced that they are now being backordered until the end of February.   You can still get the other products in this product suite, including the Sealed With Love stamp set, the Sending Love Designer Series Paper Stack, and more.  If you really want the framelits, I would order them now, so that you’ll be among the first to get them when they are back in stock.  I made a few other projects using the product suite which you can see  here.

I’ll be making this card with the ladies in my Stamp Class Monday evening.  I hope that they enjoy making this card as much as I did.

Hop on over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog to see all the fabulous designs using this sketch.

Then come back tomorrow to see the other project I will be teaching to my Stamp Class.

Happy Stampin’,

Welcome to the World!

I’ve been anxiously waiting to post this project!  I’ve been on pins & needles ever since a friend told me that he was expecting a baby girl that was due in a few weeks!  Well the day finally came, and a sweet little baby girl was born today!  I made this card the day he told me it was a girl.  Now I can finally give it to him, and show you.

Baby Bear is the stamp set that I used to make this realistic, life-like stuffed animal bear.  A triple stamp, I used Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake and Early Espresso ink for each layer of the bear to create that realistic effect.  My paper is Flirty Flamingo card stock for the card base, with a Crumb Cake layer.  Flirty Flamingo DSP and another layer of Flirty Flamingo cardstock with a Whisper White image panel.  The sentiments were stamped in Early Espresso ink on Crumb cake banners.  A row of pearls and a bakers twine bow adorn this card.

Any time I used a card base other than Whisper White or Very Vanilla, I like to make an inside panel to write on.  My inside also contains another sentiment, with just enough white space to include a handwritten note.

I used another strip of DSP so the inside and the outside coordinate.  And I just LOVE this sentiment!

Here’s a map of the products I  used to create this card:

I’m so glad that my friend is a Dad with a precious little babe to love and to hold.

If you love this creative color combo, please save this pic for your reference:

Baby Bear is such a versatile stamp set too!  If you’d like to order any of the products I used, click here to shop my store.  You can also click on any of the hi-lighted items in the description above.

Taking Layering to a New Level

Today is the long-awaited for day!  And I’m not just talking about a day off of work!  But today is the day that the Stitched Shapes Framelits dies are back in stock!

145372 Stitched Shapes Framelits
Stitched Shapes Framelits dies – # 145372

The Stitched Shapes Framelit dies were introduced back in November as a teaser of what would be coming in the 2017/2018 Annual catalog to be released in June.  They were so hugely popular that they sold out faster than expected, put on backorder, and then put into a ‘non-orderable’ status  until today.

Why are they so popular, you ask?  What’s the big deal?  Well, I’ll tell you.  This set of 12 (4 each of square, oval and circles) basic geometric shapes have tiny stitching around the edges.  And they pair perfectly with our Layering Framelits in Squares, Ovals & Circles to create perfect layers with just the right amount of detail.    Let’s have a look:  IMG_8339[1]

IMG_8411[1]

Hey Chick

See how the tiny stitches makes the shaped so much more ‘finished’ and adds just the perfect finishing touch to the basic shape?  And how the straight and scallop edges of the layering framelits dies coordinate so perfectly?  The Stitched Shapes Framelits and layering framelits are going to take your layers to a whole new dimension.  And the sizes of the shapes coordinate with so many stamp sets; both images & sentiments.

Now, what if you don’t own any of these basic shape framelit dies.  Can you still get the Stitched Shaped Framelit dies?  YES!!  Having both the layering framelit dies in all the shapes, AND the Stitched Shaped Framelits, will be an investment in tools for your paper crafing that you will have for years & years.  The best way to get all of these?  Ultimate Bundle SAB

When you purchase the Ultimate Starter Kit!  You can choose $125 worth of product for only $99 and not pay any extra for shipping!  But during Sale-A-Bration, you’ll get to choose 2 FREE stamps on top of that!  If you purchase this now, you’ll get a 20% discount on all of your purchases until the end of July 2017!  And you don’t ever have to host a workshop or sell anything if you don’t want to.  Get all the benefits of belonging to the Stampin’ UP! family by being a wholesale customer.  Purchase your Ultimate Starter Kit here.

If you choose not the order the Ultimate Starter Kit!  you can still earn FREE merchandise during Sale-A-Bration.  Just place your order here, and for every $50 you can choose one Sale-A-Bration item for FREE.  Please remember to use Host Code 2BUYMMWN when placing an order under $150.

sentwithlove1

Yes, each envelope is a real envelope that holds a real  note.  Here are the notes in each envelope:

sealedwakiss1

Shhhh, don’t say anything but this love note is going to be tucked into my hubby’s lunch today!  He’s been having alot of stress and chaos at work the last 2 days, so I’m sure this will brighten at least a minute of his day!

Here’s another project I made with the ladies in my stamp club last weekend using the same Product Suite.

lovenotes1

Another note tucked in a mini envelope.  But see how this mini envelope is constructed using the new Sending Love Glassine Sheets?  These sheets have a tiny pattern printed on them.

Well, I just got another order delivered today with some more of the new products that are featured in the 2017 Occasions catalog and Sale-A-Bration brochure. Join me as I open the box and see everything inside:

What item am I most interested in playing with? The Water Color Pencils! While I go down into My Stampin’ Space to break out those bad boys and start coloring, you can watch this video to see why I am so excited about these pencils!

First of all, they are Stampin’ Up! colors!!!  If you remember the water color pencils from years ago, they were just generic colors and did not coordinate with the Stampin’ Up! colors. But, these are the colors we know and love!   And when paired with the Inside the Lines Designer Series paper (available for FREE with a qualifying order during Sale-A-Bration Jan 4 – March 31, 2017) this is going to be a homerun!

The catalogs will be on my blog for your viewing pleasure on Jan. 4th.  If you have ordered from me and consider me your Stampin’ Up! demo, and want a copy of the catalogs in the mail, please request one here.
