It’s Spring! Time for a Sheltering Tree

One of my students texted me this photo.  She saw this magnificent Magnolia tree bursting forth in bloom and saw the bicycle propped up against its trunk.

a real life sheltering tree
A real-life Sheltering Tree: A Magnolia Tree in Scranton, PA

This scene reminded her of the Sheltering Tree stamp set and the card we made in our class together.

card made with the Sheltering Tree stamp setThank you, Elaine, for sharing that photo with me.  That makes me smile that you remembered our time stamping together and the card we made.  It was just what I needed to dig out this photo of the card we made so I could share that with my blog readers.  I’m sure that they will enjoy your photo, too.

We had fun making this card.  The card base is Whisper White 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ with a Pistachio Pudding layer 4″ x 5-1/4″ on top of that.  Baked Brown Sugar was cropped with the On Film Framelit die to frame the piece of Whisper White card stock that was stamped with the Sheltering Tree stamp.  Blushing Bride and Rose Red created the spring flowers on the Baked Brown Sugar tree trunk.  The photopolymer stamps make hanging the swing on the branch a snap!

I also stamped the sentiment in Baked Brown Sugar onto Blushing Bride card stock.  The sentiment was cut in half and the pieces adhered to the frame.  Simple and easy.  The tree is obviously the star of the show in this card!

The supplies used in this card are listed below.  If you would like to order any of these supplies, click here to visit my online store where you can shop securely 24/7.

If you place an order online for $75 or more with me during the month of May, please use hostess code 4HCRZHHC.  Anyone who places an order of $75 or more using this code will automatically receive from me, one of the new embellishments from the new catalog, valued at $5.00 as a thank you gift.   (Embellishments will be mailed out in June from me as a thank you for shopping with me.  I’ve already seen the new embellishments and I know you are going to want them!)

NOTE: If you are placing an on-line order of $150 or more, do NOT use the host code as you will receive your own on-line rewards.  Online orders of $150 will automatically qualify you to receive the Embellishments.

AFTER you place items in your shopping bag, and view your shopping bag, there is a place in the LOWER LEFT CORNER to add the hostess code.

If you like what you see, please share my post with your friends, on Facebook & pin my picture on Pinterest.  You can also follow me on Pinterest & Facebook!

Leave me a comment at the end of this post and let me know if you have the Sheltering Tree stamp set or if you plan to get it.

Thanks for Stopping by My Stampin Space, and thanks for shopping with me!  Happy Stampin’,

Sayin’ Farewell to Mixed Bunch

IMG_4758I made this card with a class a few months ago, and I just LOVE it!  I love how the Daffodil Delight just pops against the Black & White.  I also like how I was able to make my own background “DSP” with a stamp set.

I just used the large flower image, and stamped in Momento Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock to create the background.  Then I used the small circle image to stamp a few images onto a scrap of Whisper White, and punched them out with a circle punch.  I glued those onto the flowers to make that custom background.  I’ve used this treat many times, and often I’ve reached for Mixed Bunch to make that happen.  So sad that this trusty, go-to flower set is retiring!

I just had to share with you this card again.   If you think you would like this seretired stamp playing golft before it goes away, then you’d better pick it up quickly. In a few short weeks, it will be gone, retired to Florida to play golf all day!

My supply list is below for those of you who want to recreate this card, or order supplies to make this yourself.  My online store is always open!   Click here to shop now.

The RETIRED LIST is here!

Without any further adieu, here it is:

The Retired List – (PDF Format)

THE RETIRED LIST (SORTABLE EXCEL FILE)

As announced previously, Stampin’ Up! will be retiring the MDS (My Digital Studio) software line.  While you can continue to use the software, you will no longer be able to purchase downloads after May 31.  All MDS downloads are on sale at 30% off

MDS RETIRED LIST – (PDF FORMAT)

MDS RETIRED LIST (SORTABLE EXCEL FILE)

ON-LINE STORE

The days leading up to the Retired List are usually full of anticipation and speculation for me.  When the list finally posts, I usually curl up on the couch with a red ink pen, my catalog and the list.  I go thru each page, item by item, and carefully put a red “R” (for Retired) next to each item that is retiring.  (I also put a black check mark next to every item as I purchase it so I know what I have and what I don’t!)

This way I can see what I have that is retiring (you might find this soon in the Yard Sale page of my blog), and what I don’t have that I’ll really miss if it retires and I don’t have it.

The latter will cause me to spring into action, and order that item before it is gone.   I’ve let that happen once or twice and I’m still bummed by the things I’ve missed because I waited too long!  Grab a sponge to catch my tears.

Once an item goes on the Retired List, availability is while supplies last.  Last year, the retiring In Colors sold out within days.  I fully anticipate that happening here.  If you want it, get it while you can or you’ll be crying too!

So when you hop online to start shopping for the ‘must-have’ items from the retired list, don’t forget about the Clearance Rack (recently updated) and the Weekly Deals either (new today!).  That way you’ll score some really good deals all the way around.  Don’t forget the New Items either.

What is the item you are going to miss the most?  Leave me a comment and let me know.  Then share with me what item you really want from the Retiring List that you don’t already have.

Enjoy shopping the retired list.

Free Shipping Ends Soon

Header_FreeShipping_Demo_4.2015_USFREE SHIPPING on all items ends at 11:50 PM on Friday April 10th.

I love Free Shipping!  I always feel like I have to place a big order to make the shipping charges pay for themselves.  But with Free Shipping I can order as much or as little as I want.  And if I forget something, I can always place another order without paying a penalty.  I love Free Shipping!  And I know you do too!

So I ordered another roll of the Daffodil Delight Seam Binding Ribbon which was already on sale with the Weekly Deals.  And the new “Just Kidding” stamp set, and a few re-inkers.   I also got another package of Festive Designer Kraft paper from the Clearance Rack.    So I scored some really good deals, and FREE SHIPPING made those deals even better!

All this saving has made me crafty too!  I’ve been spending some time in My Stampin Space too.  Here are some projects I’ve made lately:

IMG_4853[1]

I had fun with the stamp set “Crazy about You”  and the buttons that I got for Free during the Sale-A-Bration promotion.

IMG_4855[1]

I usually have a hard time making a simple, single layer card but I needed to make a bunch of thank you cards but didn’t have a lot of time.  I was able to whip up these cards in no time.  I took my lead from the Best Year Ever DSP and Accessories for the color scheme, and threw in Pear Pizzazz for the green just for good measure.  The flower pops out quickly with the 1-3/4″ scallop circle punch.  A stampin’ dimensional popped that up to give it some lift (I told you I have hard time with single layer cards!) and the button adds such a great finishing touch without alot of fuss!  (I see me using this flower & button combo alot in the near future!)  If you didn’t get free buttons during Sale-A-Bration, then you can get the Brights Designer Buttons for 25% off and Free Shipping.  It’s the next best thing!
IMG_4856[1]

Notice how I mixed up the colors of the flower, the sentiment and the button?  Which color is your favorite?

Come back again and I’ll show you some more projects I’ve been working on.  Stop by my Facebook page and you’ll see why I needed more Daffodil Delight Seam Binding Ribbon too!

Now get busy and start shopping before you miss out on the Free Shipping!

Have fun,

Nancy

A Perfect Birthday Wrap

Today is my sisters’ birthday; my OLDER sisters’ birthday.  I just had to throw that in there.  I’m sure she won’t mind!

I made the perfect  gift wrap for her present.  A mini treat bag created from the Stampin’ Up! Mini Treat Bag Thinlit die.

mini treat bagIt was the PERFECT size to tuck the gift I bought her inside.  I can’t reveal what the gift is:  due to the snow, I never made it to the post office so the package is still en route.

Strawberry Slush is one of the soon to be retired 2013-2015 In Colors.  I’m going to miss it.  What color is your favorite from this collection?  Which color are you going to miss the most?

2013-15 In Colors Bakers TwineFor me, the answer is obvious:  ALL OF THEM!   My advice – start stocking up on these colors (cardstock, ink pads, ink refills, DSP, markers, baker’s twine) NOW.  Last year the In-Color collection was virtually SOLD OUT within hours of the retired list going public.  Don’t let that happen to you with this collection.  Many colors of the cardstock are already on back order, but any order placed now is guaranteed to be filled.  Once an item is on the retired list, supplies are limited to stock on hand so once it sells out, it’s gone for good.   Click here to shop now.

If you are interested in making this treat bag, I’ve listed all of the supplies I used below.  Just click on any item to go right to that item in my store.

A new ‘twist’ on an old favorite!

My Stampin’ Up! order just arrived and I couldn’t wait to dive in and play with my new goodies!  First was the Thick Bakers Twine & Buttons In Color Accessory Pack (which I earned for FREE and you can too!) AND the stack of Designer Series Paper in the 2014-2016 In Colors.  So I knew I would be using these things together!  Don’t you just love the color coordination from Stampin’ Up!  So do I.  It makes it so easy.  I decided to just make a monochromatic card, quick & easy, as I needed 2 cards to mail out.  I ‘recycled’ a card layout I used a few weeks ago for one of my classes and added a new twist by using DSP!

IMG_4768[1]

I started with a piece of Tangelo Twist cardstock, cut to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, scored & folded in half to create a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ card base.  Next I trimmed a piece of Whisper White cardstock to 4″ x 5-1/4″ (just a 1/4″ smaller than my card base).  I used the new Butterflies thinlits die to cut out the butterfly, but I made sure to position the die on white layer exactly centered in the upper two-thirds of the paper as I would be using both the die cut image AND the negative space of the paper it was cut from.

Next I used a piece of coordinating Tangelo Twist DSP to position behind the negative butterfly image on my whisper white layer.  I stamped my sentiment on the lower third in Tangelo Twist ink, tied a piece of Tangelo Twist thick bakers twine around this layer and then I used stampin’ dimensionals to pop this layer onto my card base.  TIP:  I like to do this to add some dimension but it also helps so the thick twine doesn’t leave a lump if I glued it flat to the card base.

Lastly I adhered the butterfly back into the negative space; but I only applied glue to the butterfly body, leaving the wings free to flutter in the wind!  My finishing touch was a Tangelo Twist button on the butterfly!  All this took about 10 minutes flat!

Yeah, I loved this so much, I quick made another card in another In Color, Hello Honey.  You can see these two cards here.  IMG_4767[1]

It really looks great in any color.  Matching cardstock, ink, DSP and embellishments made this card come together so quick & easy!

How great is it that the folks over at Colour Me…! Challenge Blog chose Tangelo Twist and a neutral for this weeks color challenge?  Were they watching me create this card?  Did they like this card so much too that they decided to use this color combo too or it is just a coincidence?  You decide.  I’m not sure, but I do know that I’m entering my card in their challenge.  You can head over to the Colour Me…! blog to check out other projects in this color combo.

Don’t forget you can order these products, and any other Stampin’ Up! products directly from me safely & securely online here.  For every $50 in product purchases, you will earn 1 FREE Sale-A-Bration item.  Will you choose the InColors Accessory Pack like I did or something else?  Leave me a comment with your favorite SAB item.

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better

I love being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator!   There are so many reasons, but it’s always exciting to work with a company that is constantly striving to bring top quality products, exclusive products, and on-trend products to the market.   It makes it exciting!

Couple that with great promotions to bring those products to you at great savings and it all adds up to one great job!   Just when you thought  Sale-A-Bration couldn’t get any better, it did!  Stampin’ Up! has just announced that they are adding 4 new exclusive products to the Sale-A-Bration promotion just for the month of March!  How cool is that?  Really cool, right?  I knew you’d agree.  But I bet your just dying to SEE those new products, right?  Well I won’t make you wait any longer; here they are:

FlyerTH_SAB2_demo_Feb1715_US

And here is the flier you can download, and print out, so you can oogle over these newbies all day long, whereever you go.  I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t mind having all 4 of these new products.

As with all the Sale-A-Bration items, they are FREE with a $50 product order (before shipping & tax).  So with a $200 order, you can get all 4 items.  Maybe now is the time to start filling your wish list.

What is your favorite new product?  Mine is the 2014-2016 In Color Baker’s Twine & Button set, hands down.  Can you say Blackberry Bliss and Hello, Honey?  I will not pass up those colors.

On another note, but keeping with the commitment that Stampin’ Up! has made to bring only the highest quality products to the market, all of the Blendabilities markers, in every color, are unavailable to order at this time.  I  can hear the collective sighs and boos.   I know how much you are loving the Blendabilities line, I am too.   Quality problems have been detected, and rather than ship possibly defective markers, Stampin’ Up! has chosen to ‘turn off ordering’ of these items until the problem can be resolved.  I know this is a bummer, but I’d rather wait for something that is of high quality, than risk receiving a less than perfect product.  I think you would also.

So, please go ahead and order the other products and take advantage of the exclusive offers during Sale-A-Bration.  You can shop online here.

Make sure to check out the Weekly Deals (these change every Tuesday), the New Arrivals and the Clearance Rack too!

Don’t forget, now is also a great time to host a workshop or join Stampin’ Up Email me if you want more information on either of these options.

Please feel free to share this post with your facebook friends, pin, or forward it.  Thanks for being sociable!

Happy Stampin,

Nancy

The February Paper Pumpkin Revealed

I got mine in the mail on Wednesday.  Did you get yours yet?  While I did open the box and take a sneak peak, I didn’t open my set to see what was truly inside.  Until tonight.  Hmm, you didn’t open yours yet?   Spoiler Alert – the video shows all.

How fun is that!  An accordion card.  Who wouldn’t feel extra ‘thanked’ upon receiving that?  Someone do something nice for you lately?  For your Mom who always watches the kids for you.  For your co-worker who helped you on that last project.  For the teller at the bank who always has a smile ready for you?  (Ok, I threw that last one in there because I am a bank teller by day). But seriously, you can probably think of at least half a dozen people who you need to thank for something.  And that’s great, because this kit makes 6 cards!

If you aren’t already receiving your monthly dose of creativity, you can order your Paper Pumpkin here.  And I would suggest the 3-month prepaid subscription as it is on sale and you can save $5 thru March 31st.  It also qualifies you for a free Sale-a-Bration item too!.

header_PP_SAB_demo_ENG^2

Get your Paper Pumpkin your way;  You can choose from a month-to-month auto delivery, or a 1, 3, 6 or 12 month prepaid subscription.   You’ll get a new project kit each month containing everything you need to create a finished project including an exclusive stamp set each month.  You can even ‘gift’ the prepaid subscriptions to someone else.  Click here for all the options.

As a Paper Pumpkin subscriber, you can order past kits and refill kits;  see what’s available here.

And every month, you’ll have access to a video like the one above, showing how to assemble your project.  If you are in the Scranton area, you can join me each month for a Paper Pumpkin Party to assemble our projects together while enjoying a evening out making new friends too!

So what are you waiting for?  Order your Paper Pumpkin kit today!  You’ll be glad you did.  (The Sale price of the 3-month Subscription shown below will show up in the shopping cart!)

A challenging Color Challenge

I have this funny thing about combining different shades of reds, or even red & orange.  So when I saw the color challenge for the Paper Players was Calypso Coral, Real Red, & Black, my first thought was, ooh, I don’t think I am going to like this.  But that thought only lasted a fraction of second, quickly followed by the thought that the Stacked with Love Specialty Designer Paper was Real Red, Crisp Canteloupe and Calypso Coral along with Black & White.  Fear and doubt were quickly replaced with thoughts of easy peasy!

I love when Stampin’ Up! makes things so easy.   I knew exactly what I wanted to make too, and it wasn’t a card.

photo 1(3)I made a banner using Real Red, Calypso Coral, Black and White.  Here is a close-up shot of the banner.

photo 3(2)

photo 2(2)The solid color cardstock forms the backdrop for the pennants.  I cut Real Red and Calypso Coral into 2″ x 3″ triangles.  And cut the little letters from Basic Black cardstock using the Little Letters Thinlits dies.

The Stacked with Love DSP gave me the fun part!  I used the 1-1/4″ Scalloped Circle Punch to create little backdrops for my letters and little banners for the spacer pennants.

photo(9)I just love how the patterned paper pulls all those colors together so beautifully and makes easy work for me to play along with the Paper Players Color Challenge this week!

Be Mine BannerIf you’d like to see what the Paper Players did with this color challenge, head on over.   Challenge yourself and play along.  I’d love to see what you create with this color combination!.

If you’d like to order any of the supplies I used to make this banner, you can click here to shop on line.  Don’t forget, with Sale-A-Bration in full swing, you can earn a free item for every $50 you purchase.

It took a vocabulary lesson for me to like this stamp set

When I opened the Occasions catalog for the first time, I was hoping for a really nice Valentine’s Day stamp set.  I have to be truthful, I really didn’t like the You Plus Me stamp set because I didn’t know what the word ‘twitterpated’ meant.  I really didn’t want this stamp set because of that.  I loved the font but not the word.  As a matter of fact, I bought the paper during the pre-order but not the stamp set.

And then, I got the bright idea to look up the definition of that word, and when I did, I fell in love the word!  So if you are like me and don’t know the meaning of the word twitterpated, here is a vocabulary lesson for you too.

adjective, Informal.
1. excited or overcome by romantic feelings; smitten.
Origin:1942; first used in the movie Bambi; twitter + -pated
adj.

1942, apparently first attested in the Walt Disney movie “Bambi” (there also was a song by that name but it was not in the studio release of the film), a past participle adjective formed from twitter + pate (n.2) “head” (cf. flutterpated, 1894).

Thumper: Why are they acting that way?
Friend Owl: Why, don’t you know? They’re twitterpated.
Flower, Bambi, Thumper: Twitterpated?
Friend Owl: Yes. Nearly everybody gets twitterpated in the springtime. For example: You’re walking along, minding your own business. You’re looking neither to the left, nor to the right, when all of a sudden you run smack into a pretty face. Woo-woo! You begin to get weak in the knees. Your head’s in a whirl. And then you feel light as a feather, and before you know it, you’re walking on air. And then you know what? You’re knocked for a loop, and you completely lose your head!
Thumper: Gosh, that’s awful.

Isn’t that adorable? Well, know that I now what Twitterpated means, I really like the word.  And yes, I caved I bought the stamp set! (If I bought the stamp set and Stacked with Love Paper stack together, I could have saved 15%).   And it was the perfect stamp to use to create this card just for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.  Here is the sketch:

And here is my answer to the challenge:

IMG_4600[1]I have to say that I just love this stamp set, I love the twitterpated sentiment with the little heart, and I love the paper.  This simple sketch really lets the elements shine because it’s not too busy.  The wonderful Stacked With Love paper stack did all the work for when it came to choosing the fabulous color combination of Real Red & Crisp Canteloupe.  The patterns are fun and the heart was a cinch to crop out using the Heart framelits dies.  I used Versamark ink and White embossing powder to heat emboss the sentiment onto the Real Red card stock.  A little flower punched from the same paper adds a finishing touch.  Here’s a close-up of the sentiment.

You Plus Me Equals…..

I love the new Valentine set in the 2015 Occasions catalog! When I saw the Mojo Monday sketch challenge I knew this was the set I would be reaching for. And when I saw the challenge for the Paper Players, I knew my card would fit the bill for that challenge too! That’s killing two birds with one stone so to speak! Here is the Mojo Monday sketch:

…and here is the Paper Players

And here is my card:  IMG_4571[1] I used the new “You Plus Me” stamp set for the sentiment and the “Stacked with Love” DSP paper stack for the background paper and the middle circle layer.  Real Red, Basic Black and Whisper White cardstock round out out the ingredients used in this card.

I kept it simple with a Whisper White card base.  The B&W XO pattern was just right for the main panel.  A small strip of Basic Black cardstock embossed with the new Happy Heart TIEF gave me a good foundation for the main star of the show; the sentiment!  It was stamped in Real Red ink on Whisper White cardstock.  My circle thinlits dies did all the heavy cropping of the circle, and the patterned Real Red 2nd circle. These were backed up by a Real Red cardstock Starburst circle.

Simple and clean convey the message loud & clear!  I love how the paper and stamp set do all the work for me.  You can get the stamp set & paper as a bundle and Save 15%.   Bonus!
