Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge

Ok, so I’m a little late getting this posted, but as they say “Better Late than Never”!  The Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge for this week is Real Red, Soft Sky and Whisper White.  Don’t you just love these colors together?PPA Color Challenge 187: Real Red, Soft Sky, Whisper White

I knew immediately what stamp set I wanted to use for this color challenge, Crazy, Mixed Up Love.   Don’t ask me why but I just thought the blender image would be great done in Soft Sky & Real Red.

PPA 187 I wanted the hearts swirling around inside the blender, and the buttons on the blender to be red while the blender itself was blue.  So my first thought was, “I’ll use markers.”  Great idea, except, I don’t have Soft Sky in a Marker; only an ink pad.   So what’s a girl to do?  Well, I considered my options but I finally decided I would ink up the stamp entirely using my Soft Sky ink pad.  Then use my Blender Pen to ‘pick up’ the ink off the stamp where I wanted it to be Real Red.  After I removed the ink from those places, I used my Real Red marker to color in the hearts & buttons.  Huff, Huff, and then I stamped as usual.   Perfect!  No one will ever know I didn’t have a Soft Sky Marker (except you, but you won’t tell anyone my little secret, will you?)

So now you know what to do when you want to color in a stamp  but don’t have the marker color you want.  This works best when color that is the main, or larger area of the stamp, so you only have to remove a small area.

Supplies:

Crazy, Mixed Up Love
#131071 (C), #131068 (W)

Don’t you just LOVE this adorable stamp set?  It’s perfect for Valentine’s Day, or any day that you want to share your love with someone.  You can click on the picture above and go right to my store and order your stamp set today.  Know what else is really cool about this set?  It’s available in German, French & Spanish too, so you can share your love, whatever your language!

I used a piece of Real Red C’oredinations cardstock from the Brights Collection because I really wanted the texture for this layer.  A piece of Soft Sky cardstock frames the Whisper White cardstock that I stamped on.  A little piece of 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon in Real Red  ties everything together.

Did you notice the little flagged-end banner?  That’s a new Stamp Set & coordinating Punch from the Sale-A-Bration catalog which will make its’ debut Jan. 28th.   You know  any stamp set that has a coordinating punch or framelit die, goes right to the top of my “Must Have” list.

Please tell me if you like the card I made.  Tell me too, if you like this stamp set.   I plan on sharing more samples made from this set in the next few weeks so stay tuned!  Come back tomorrow for more sneak peeks from the Occasions Catalog and Sale-A-Bration.  Tomorrow is our Pals Blog Hop so you’ll be treated to many great projects from the Pals.

Like me on Facebook so we can stay in touch there too!  Thanks!  🙂

Bling in the New Year

Bling in the New Year

Our Pals Gallery theme was “Bling in the New Year”.  Since I had a birthday card I needed to send out, I decided to ‘bling’ a birthday card.  I always think the striking Black & White color combo works well with something sparkly.  The Silver Glimmer paper and Rhinestones jewels were my bling of choice.  The oval framelit dies allowed me to crop various sizes of ovals that would layer perfectly.   I choose to offset my ovals to allow more room for my flowers.

Petite Petals, a new stamp set from the Occasions catalog, and the coordinating Petite Petals Punch allowed me to create a bunch of these flowers in a jiffy.  BONUS:  The stamp set and punch are bundled together for 15% savings!   Love that!

I simply used Black Staz-On ink on Whisper White cardstock to stamp various patterns of flowers and arranged them using snail adhesive and/or stampin’ dimensionals to give my flowers different heights.

Thanks for stopping by My Stampin Space today.  Come back & stamp with me soon.

Make A Wish!

One item that should be at the top your wish list from the new 2014 Occasions Catalog from Stampin’ Up! is the “Perfect Pennants” stamp set. This set of 10 stamps has such on-trend images and sentiments. When I saw this set, with it’s coordinating framelits dies bundled to save you money, it went straight to the top of my wish list!

This week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge provided the perfect layout to showcase this stamp set.
Mojo Monday 325 SketchI decided to go out of my comfort zone and make a round card!  It was so easy that I don’t know why I don’t do this more often.

The Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge for this week is a classy combination of Island Indigo, Gold and Whisper White.  http://stampinpretty.typepad.com/.a/6a00e54f95df92883401a5102dcda8970c-pi

So I decided that I would use that color combination and be able to post this card for both the Mojo Monday sketch challenge AND the Pals Paper Arts color challenge.

So here’s my submission:  Make a Wish The gold embossing on Island Indigo looks MUCH BETTER in person; but it’s camera shy and just wouldn’t cooperate with getting its’ picture taken.  But trust me, it really makes a statement!

I used the Scallop Circle Bigz die #113468 for my card base.  TIP:  I folded my cardstock in half and set the fold just under the top edge of the die.  While it does give a flat top, it also allows the card base to take the round shape.  The Circle Collection Framelits dies #130911 allowed me to crop an Island Indigo circle.  A piece of DSP from the Quatrefancy Specialty DSP #130141 gave me the patterned Island Indigo piece.  TIP:  Glue this piece to the Island Indigo BEFORE cropping out the circle.

I used the Gold Metallic Encore Ink Pad #132141 for the Gold banners.  Didn’t get this in the Holiday Catalog?  No worries, it is carried over into the Occasions catalog so you get this now!  TIP:  You can add Clear Embossing Powder to the Metallic Encore inks and heat emboss.  No versamark ink needed!

Are you diggin’ the scallop tag top on the sentiment?  Me too!  That punch was another MUST HAVE item that went to the top of my list my first trip thru the new Occasions catalog!  You can find this beauty, and it’s angled cousin on page 35.

So, what do you think of my double-punch knockout?  Does this make you want to step out of your comfort zone and try something new?  The round card was not all intimidating once I got started;  and well, the garbage can was nearby if it turned out to be a flop, so I figured I had nothing to lose!

I Believe!

I Believe in Santa ClauseI love this card!  This is not my original; it is my version of a card I saw on Pinterest.  I wish I knew where I first saw it and/or who first designed this so I could give credit where credit is due.  I’ve actually seen several versions of this.

To create the card, I started with  card base from Real Red cardstock.  I cut the beard from the Apothecary Accents framelits die.  The belt is a piece of Basic Black card stock.  The belt buckle is a square of Silver Glimmer paper; I cut 2 slits and slipped the black card stock thru.  A small circle punch and a silver brad make the buttons.  The sentiment is from a retired stamp set but the sentiment is just perfect for this occasion, don’t you think?

Let me know what you think of this card.  Have you seen this design before?  Have you attempted to re-create this card yourself?

And what did I do with the inside of this card?  2013-12-08 20.27.01

I use a plain sheet of copy paper cut slightly smaller than the inside and glue it just along the top edge.  A little coordinating stamp from Embellished Events finishes off this card.

Quick & easy for you to recreate this card for the last minute cards you need to make.

Happy Stampin!

Nancy

Friendship: It’s what Stampin’ is all about!

One of the things I love most about this world of stamping (well, besides stamping) is the chance to make new friends. I love to introduce people to their first stamping experience and see the joy on their faces when the create something. With blogging and social media, some of the friends I meet are on-line, and I never really get to stamp with them but still enjoy the world of stamping with them.
Well a few weeks back I had the privilege to meet one of my on-line stamping friends in person. Lucky me!
A few days off of work, and jonesing for a road trip, I decided to drive down to the Carolina’s to see some family. Knowing I was going that way, I let one of my blog followers/fellow stamper know I would be in her neck of the woods to see if we could fix a time to meet. And meet we did.

We spent a wonderful afternoon having lunch together and sharing some of our creations with each other. I know you want to meet her too, so here she is: (And guess what? Her name is Nancy too! How cool is that?)

So Grateful for Thanksgiving

I LOVE Thanksgiving!   I really do, and I feel bad that this holiday, one in which we pause from our hectic, busy lives, to give thanks to God for all the blessings he gives to us each & every day, gets crowded out in all the commercialism of Halloween & Christmas.

I am hosting Thanksgiving at my house again this year (I enjoy this!) and I made these adorable little treat holders for each of my 13 guests.  I actually made some more to bring to my co-workers too!

Thanksgiving Treat HoldersHere is a close-up of just one treat holder.

Thanksgiving Treat HolderAnd here’s a side view:

2013-11-27 16.45.39Want to see what’s inside?  Of course you do!  It would be rather mean to just leave you hanging in suspense, not really knowing what was inside, wouldn’t it?  I would not do that to you, so here’s a picture of what is inside:

Acorn Candy TreatsAdorable little candy acorns.    Here’s a better shot of the acorns coming off the  assembly line:

Acorn Candy treatsThese were so easy to make too!  Can you tell what they’re made from?  A Hershey Kiss.  The kiss is topped with a peanut butter wafer then a peanut butter chip.  I ‘glued’ all the candy pieces together with melted peanut butter chips.  So easy and so darn cute!  I suppose the taste combination is incredible too!  But, unbelievably, I haven’t eaten one.  I can just imagine popping one in my mouth, and the chocolate & peanut butter taste combination melting together, yum, yum, yum!

And my gift to you this Thanksgiving, since I can’t make and give a treat to each and every one of my dear blog readers, is the instructions on how to make this yourself. CLICK HERE for the PDF file with step-by-step directions and photos.

It could easily be adapted for Christmas, Valentine’s Day, a birthday or any occasion.

If you would like to make this, I would appreciate if you would shop on my on-line store if you need any supplies.  Don’t forget about our ongoing Holiday Sale and our Weekly Deals.  Be sure to check these out before placing an order.

Please leave me a comment and let me know how you like this and if you plan to make them yourself too.  I love to hear from you and treasure each and every comment you leave for me.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving, and Happy Stampin’!

So Thankful for the Pals November Blog Hop

2013novhop_badge.jpg

Thank you for joining us for the November Pals Blog Hop. We are thankful you are visiting today and hope you enjoy our thank you inspired projects.

You should have just left stop number 29 on the Pals Hop Sue Becker
at Sue’s R n R Stamping.   If so, you are in the right spot.  If you get off track, the full blog lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

The very first Stampin’ Up! product I ever bought was a Thanksgiving set.  Maybe that’s why when the 2013 Holiday catalog came out & I saw the “Harvest of Thanks” stamp set I knew I just had to have it!  This set features a turkey and I knew instinctively what my Thanksgiving Table would look like!  The 1-1/4″ burlap ribbon was right there along with it!

A Turkey with Gratitude

I made this card to send to my out-of-town friends & relatives for Thanksgiving.  I used a Very Vanilla card base, placed a strip of the Burlap Ribbon, topped that with a piece cut from the Apothecary Accents framelits die in Early Espresso and textured with the Woodgrain Embossing folder.  A small Old Olive piece cut with a Chalk Talk framelit provided a little accent for my Rosette.  This piece was formed from a strip of Summer Starfruit DSP from the 2012-2014 Paper Stack.  My Simply Scored is invaluable in making the rosette.  A scallop circle cropped from the Scallop Circle Punch tops the rosette and makes the perfect backdrop for Mr. Turkey!  The turkey image was stamped in Early Espresso ink on Very Vanilla cardstock and cropped with a circle punch.

The final finishing touch is the sentiment:  I stamped the Gratitude sentiment in Old Olive ink on Very Vanilla cardstock and cropped it with the Itty Bitty Banners framelits die.  I popped that up on a Stampin Dimensional.

So, now that you’ve seen the card I am going to mail to out-of-towners, do you want to see the card that I made as an invitation to those folks who will be coming for Thanksgiving Dinner?  You do?  That’s great because I just happen to have it here for you.  Rather presumptuous of me of, huh?  Well, maybe it is, but I thought you’d really want to see it so I got it ready to show you.  Drumroll, please…..

Give Thanks

This is made from the Wonderfall Bigz Die and the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.  I simply stamped random spots onto the leaves after they were cut out.  The Sentiment is from a retired Stamp Set that I just love too much to part with.  Each invitation is different as I just cut out a bunch of leaves in various colors.  Then I just randomly picked 3 and made each card.

Want to see the inside?  Of course you do so here it is:

IMG_2919[1]

I used the “Make A Wish”  stamp set for the inside; perfect for any invitation regardless of the occasion.

So there you have it.  My card & invitation.  Stop back in the coming days & weeks, I’m working on my Thanksgiving table decor & another banner using the  Build A Banner Simply Created Kit.  And please “Like” me on Facebook – I’m only 2 people away from reaching 100 Likes.  Won’t you help me reach that milestone?  Thanks for your help, and thanks for stopping by My Stampin’ Space.

The next stop is Peggy Noe at prettypapercards,  stop number 31 on the Pals Blog Hop! Thanks for visiting – and I hope to see you next month!
