Look Who’s in My Stampin’ Space.

photo(1)

A few weeks ago, I shared my first video tutorial class with you, my readers.  Many people purchased this class, and although there were a few technical errors, they quickly resolved and I received many compliments from everyone who viewed this class.  One of my ‘students’, Mali Ringel, made this project with her group of fellow demos and they all thoroughly enjoyed the project.  Mali graciously forwarded this pic of the All Dressed Up Lipstick Holder that she made.  I LOVE that Mali chose to put a package of Smarties candy in the holder rather than a lipstick.    I spy a piece of Naturals Compostion paper used as the base and a piece of DSP for the dress.

Thank you, Mali, for your creative use of this cute little lipstick holder as a candy treat.

If you like this and would like to take the video tutorial class, click here to see the original post and the link to purchase the class.  Then put your creative hat on to see how many ways you use this lipstick holder party favor!

Thanks for stopping by My Stampin’ Space.  I hope that you will stamp with me.

Cabana Madness

This week is birthday week at the Gleason house!  3 daughters, 1 son-in-law, 8 days!  Whew! My card making  madness was in overdrive!  Boy, does that make me happy!

Soft, cool blue is Jenn’s color; just like the color of her eyes.  Coastal Cabana just shouted “use me for Jenn’s card, use me!”.  And so Coastal Cabana and Whisper White were chosen as the color palette.  Cabana Madness

Mosaic Madness, the new stamp set with a coordinating punch were all calling out to be used.  I love that this stamp set has several different patterns of the same stamp; they work perfectly together but yet are different enough to provide just enough interest.  When a punch can pop out a perfectly cut shape in a single squeeze, I’m a happy camper!  These five shapes were stamped up and punched out in no time.  1 down, 3 to go.  Come back tomorrow for more birthday wishes.

If you want to order any of the products used, just click on the item icon below and you’ll instantly be transported to my on-line store where you can shop safely & securely from the comfort of your home and have your order shipped right to you.  Sounds just as easy as making this card!

June Pals Blog Hop

My project features a new stamp set and 3 of the new In-Colors.  The stamp set, Simply Sketched, is a hostess set and I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it!  I chose to use the “With Heartfelt Sympathy” sentiment because of my need for a sympathy card, but the card would work equally as well with either of the 3 sentiments in the set.

While we talking about love at first sight, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new 2013-2015 In-Colors.  Many times I have to ‘warm up’ to new colors but not this year.  I actually got to see the new colors before they were released when I attended a Stampin’ Up! Regional Conference in April.  I couldn’t wait to get my hands on these new colors and start creating.  I chose to use Baked Brown Sugar for my base layer; I embossed half of this layer with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  Pistachio Pudding and Crisp Cantaloupe blend perfectly to create a soft color palette.  I created the flags using the background stamp from “Oh Hello” and the 1″ square punch.  I scored the Crisp Cantaloupe flag using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool to create some texture and dimension.

Smart Owl

Wow!   Today my son is graduating.  I am so proud of him and all that he has accomplished.  Congratulations, Matt!

I made this card after seeing it by Mary Fish.  I love this little ‘smart owl’ – he looks so academic with his eye glasses, mortarboard, and diploma.

Smart Owl

I used Crumb Cake & Midnight Muse as my color combo.   (Matt will be wearing a navy cap & gown.)  Keeping with the academic them, I popped this little guy up on a 2-3/8″ scallop circle punched from our In-Color DSP with words on it so it looks like a page from a book.  This circle was then placed on a belly band to hold the double-door opening card together.  Two strips of Natural Composition DSP paper in the wood grain pattern were used for the card front, as everyone knows that owls live in trees.

The owl was a hoot to make!  I started with our Owl Builder Punch, the wings were made with the Scallop Oval Punch.  The top part of the mortarboard started out as a Petite Pennants Builder punch which I cropped by hand.  The hat part was snipped out using the Paper Snips freehand.  I also snipped little strips of paper to create the eyeglass frames.   Linen thread created the tassel and holds the diploma in place too.   A little bit of Crumb Cake ink was sponged around the edges of the owls body & wings to contrast.

Please leave me a comment and let me know how you like this card.  If you want to make this, and need any of the supplies, you can click on the hot links on any product listed, or click here to go to my online store and place your order securely and have it shipped right to your house!  You don’t need to be a graduate to know that’s the smart thing to do.

Thanks for stopping by.  If you’d like to leave Matt a ‘Congrats, Grad’ comment, please do.  I’ll pass along all of the well wishes to him and he’d be so happy to receive your wishes.

Thanks for looking, and happy stampin’,

Nancy

Go Ahead & Cry….

Today would have been my in-laws 60th Wedding Anniversary.   You may remember that my FIL went home to be with his Lord & Saviour in January.  He was so looking forward to this day and really wanted to ‘make it’ until June, but the Lord had other plans for him.

I knew that today would be a very emotional day for my MIL and I made this card for her.

Go Ahead & Cry  I actually bought this set just for this stamp, just for this occassion, but I love all of the stamps in this set.  The stamp  set is called “Lean on Me” and it just retired.  I hope that you actually had the chance to purchase it.  This sentiment is just perfect for the occasion when you want to be there for someone at a time when there are no words.

Mom’s favorite color is purple and I figured that since was using a retired stamp set, it was a good to use some other retired products (the DSP) but I did throw in a newbie too – the Mosaic Madness TEF for the background.

If you have this stamp set, please leave me a comment and let me know which stamp is your favorite.  I love to hear from you.

Thanks & Happy Stampin’

My Top 10 Fav’s from the new Catalog

As you should know by now, the new 2013-2014 Annual Catalog is set to make it’s debut Friday, May 31st.  If you are a customer of mine (meaning you have purchased from me in the last year), and need a copy of the new catalog, please contact me.  The catalog will be available to view here on my blog on May 31st.

I have been reading my catalog, making my wish list, re-reading my catalog, editing (ie:  expanding) my wish list, re-reading my catalog, updating my wish list, and so on.  It’s a vicious cycle.  But one I’m glad to do.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the layout of the new catalog.  Besides a great product line-up; it’s filled with great photography and LOTS of ideas and inspiration – including non-card and non-scrapbook stuff (IE:  Think party and home decor ideas).

The layout of the new catalog is much more user friendly; things are grouped and organized in a way that makes it so much easier to navigate.  You’ll love the new catalog too, I promise.

While I can’t show you pictures (yet) of the new items, I can give you a list of my top 10 favorites.  So here goes:  (drum roll, please!).

1:)   Bundles!  Any time we have items that coordinate together so beautifully together, it just spells good times for me.  But when we bundle those items together, it spells stamping goodness and $ Savings.  Sweet!  My favorite bundle is Chalk Talk – a 6 piece stamp set with a coordinating framelits die set.

2.) Ronald McDonald stamp set – Every year a stamp set is designed for the Ronald McDonald House Charities and money is raised to support this worthwhile charity.  This year the stamp set, Tag It, coordinates with the same framelits dies as the Chalk Talk set.  Super Sweet!

3.)  Wetlands – I don’t what it is about this stamp set; maybe its the masculine appeal, maybe it’s the nature-inspired appeal, maybe its the simple, every day sentiments crafted from beautiful, timeless font styles, or the combination of all of the above, but this stamp set is on the top of my wish list.  Enough said!

4. & 5.)  Off the Grid and Gorgeous Grunge – These stamp sets make me want to break loose from my ‘color within the lines’ mentality and go wild and distressing, in  a good kind of way!

6.)  Mosaic Madness – coordinating stamp set, a  punch, Designer Series Paper, and an embossing folder!  Wow – this is the motherload of coordination!   I’m mad-ly in love with Mosaic Madness!  (And so on trend, I’ve been seeing this Mosaic pattern everywhere – from curtains, to pillows, to stationery, to clothing – you name it, the Mosaic pattern is on it).

7.) Six-sided Sampler:  Another stamp set/punch coordinating duo in another trendy pattern; hexagons.  Need I say more?

8.)  This & That –  A product suite centered around a journal; the possibilities are unlimited:  A mini scrapbook, a life chronicle journal, a kid’s sports career journal, a prayer journal, a get-my-life organized journal – you get the idea.  All with coordinating DSP, washi tape (to stick it all together) stickers, clips and a rotary stamp.

9:)  New Color Refresh and Core’dinations Paper: I couldn’t NOT mention the new color palette when noting that we now will have Core’dinations Paper in EVERY COLOR – including our In-Colors.  (Speaking of In-Colors, did I mention that this years colors are just gorgeous?  Some years, I really need to ‘warm up’ to the new colors, but not this year.  It was love at first sight.)

10.)  Candy Dots – remember the old-fashioned candy dots that come on a cash register receipt type paper strip?   The colorful candy dots lined up so perfectly?  Well, those delicious dots are now adhesive backed and make your embellishing dreams come true.  Throw in Candy Dots Brad Bases and transform these stick-on cuties into brads.  Whets my appetite!

11.)  Chevron Ribbon – another on trend pattern, in ribbon form.  Plan on buying a roll in every color.  Yup, just plan on it.

12.)  Coaster Board – thinner than Chip Board, thicker than Card Stock.  This medium weight sheet stock will be keeping my Big Shot busy this summer.

So there, you have it.  My top twelve favs.  Oh, was my list supposed to be only ten?  Oh well, I threw in a bonus.  Just because I like you.  And because I like so many new products, I couldn’t help myself.  There are more things too, that are on my must-have list, but I didn’t want to turn my top 10 list into a top 20.

So tell me, how does your top 10 (or 12) list compare to mine?  Are there several things that reached the top of  your list and mine?  Did something catch your eye the first trip around the new catty that you just have to have?  Do leave me a comment and let me know what you favorites are from the new catty.

Then get ready.  On-line ordering begins approximately noon on Friday, May 31st.  The new catalog will go live right here on my blog just after midnight so you can stay up all night perusing and making, and editing, your wish list.  Just click on the catalogs to the right. Then click on the Shop Online Now Button on the right.  And you’re in.  Shop to your hearts content.  Order $150 or more in product and earn Stampin’ Rewards dollars.

And remember, this year, there is an overlap period.  On Friday, May 31st you can order from the new 2013-2014 catalog, AND the retiring 2012-2013 catalog AND the retiring 2013 Spring Catalog.  This doesn’t usually happen so take advantage of this occasion.  Order your retiring products and new products together on one order.

Happy Stampin, and happy catalog reading.

See you on Friday!

Nancy

All Dressed Up!

This is a card that we made at our last Stamp Club.  It features new and old products.  A;; Dressed Up!

The stamp set is All Dressed Up and I’m tickled pink that this set and the coordinating framelits dies are being carried over into the new 2013-2014 Catalog.

I love the Baja Breeze Blue, Basic Gray and Whisper White color combination.  If you do too, you need to stock up on Baja Breeze cardstock, ink, accessories, etc. as this color is being retired due to our Color Refresh.

My Big Shot made easy work of cutting out all of the shapes for this card.  I stamped this dress in Baja Breeze ink onto Whisper White cardstock.  The coordinating framelits dies made cropping out this shape a snap!  The dress form was cropped out using Basic Gray cardstock also with the Framelits dies.  The dress fits perfectly on the dress form.

I used the Ovals Framelits dies to create the oval shape and offsetting the oval off of the card base creates an interesting background.

TIP:  I used SNAIL adhesive to glue the oval to the Baja Breeze cardstock layer first and then, using my Stampin’ Trimmer, I sliced off the portion of the oval that was hanging off.

The sentiment, also from the All Dressed Up set was stamped with Basic Gray ink onto the Baja Breeze layer.  This layer was adhered to the Whisper White carstock base and then a Basic Jewels Pearls necklace was added as a final, finishing touch.

Fore!

A good friend of ours just retired after 39 years on the job.  A very festive Retirement Gala was held in his honor.  I know that Larry will be planning to spend alot of time on the golf course in his retirement (he had an 8 AM tee-time scheduled for the next morning!) so I made this card just for him.  Inside was a gift card to a local golf shop.

Fore!

I don’t do too much punch art but I really had fun making this card, and it was so simple.  A piece of our new Soft Sky was used as the card base.  A piece of Wild Wasabi was repeatedly snipped with Paper Snips to create the grass look.  I ran a piece of Whisper White thru the Polka Dot textured embossing folder and used what would typically be the back, the depressed side, and punched it out to create the golf ball.  I hand snipped the Cherry Cobbler paper for the tee.  The Pennant punch created the flag which I mounted on a thin strip of Smokey Slate.  The clouds were punched with the Build-a-Cupcake punch.  A little bit of Smoky Slate was sponged around the edges of the clouds.

I used the new photopolymer stamp set Designer Typeset Stamp Set #132956 for the custom lettering and number on the flag.

This was the first time that I used that stamp set and it was really fun to put the letters together to make a custom message.  The fun part is that they don’t have to be perfect.

Want to learn more about Stampin’ Up!’s new Photopolymer Stamps?   I thought so.  Watch this video and find out everything you ever wanted to know about Photopolymer stamps (including just what photopolymer is) but were afraid to ask!

So now you have some inspiration to make something for the golfer in your life.  Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think.  I appreciate all of your comments and love to hear from you and know what you like.

And remember, you can order Photopolymer stamps, or anything else from Stampin’ Up! directly thru my secure site, 24/7.  Just click here to go to my store.  Thanks,
Nancy

May Pals Blog Hop

Thank you for joining us for the May Pals Blog Hop and our annual retirement party!   It’s time to say goodbye to stamps and accessories that will not be available in the new  2013-14 Stampin’ Up! catalog. Although it’s always sad to see wonderful products retire, it is exciting to think about all of the new products that will soon be available.   So enjoy the farewell tour for our favorite retiring products – and remember you have until June 3rd to order from the retiring product lists.

You should have just left stop number 10 on the Pals Hop –Lynn Hoyt at Cattail Designs.   If so, you are in the right spot.  If you get off track, the full blog lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

Black ToileRed ToileBlue Toile“Elements of Style” (#118611 – wood, # 120045 -clear) is one of my favorite stamp sets.  I have made this card on numerous occasions, for beginner & advanced classes alike.  This is a beautiful toile design that looks good in any color combination.  All cards start with the same base and are constructed in the same fashion; I just used different colors.   I used either Basic Black, Real Read or Not Quite Navy card stock & ink.  (Not Quite Navy is a color that is also retiring due to the Color Refresh.)  Sometimes I would emboss the background layer with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder # 119976 for added texture.  The sentiment is part of this set and  circle punches make easy work for the sentiment.  A satin ribbon pulls the whole project together nicely.   Yes, I am going to miss Elements of Style from the new catalog, but….I’ve already seen the new catalog and there are a whole lot of new stamps that soon will become my new favs!

If you would like a PDF file of specific instructions to make this card, please leave a comment for me telling me color you like best and then head over to facebook and “LIKE” my page.

So Grateful, for Mom!

A Grateful Heart

This is the card that I gave to my ‘mothers’ for Mother’s Day.  I am so grateful for both my Step-Mother and my Mother-in-Law; even more so the longer my own mom is gone.  Since I didn’t have a sentiment that expressly said “happy mother’s day” I opted for one that expressed how I felt.  Being grateful for these woman that the Lord has placed in my life, I thought this sentiment from  “Pursuit of Happiness” fit the bill.  Raspberry Ripple and Pool Party markers let me isolate the words to stamp the sentiment as shown to stamp on the Whisper White card base.

I used our Oval Framelits dies to create the cut-out in the Pool Party cardstock which I then ran through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  Secret Garden provided the stamp set and coordinating framelit dies for the flowers.

After stamping the flower outlines with versamark ink, I heat embossed with White Embossing Powder.  Then I used Primrose Petals ink on a sponge dauber to add color to the large flower, Raspberry Ripple on the lower flower and Wisteria Wonder on the top flower.  Since the flower centers are smaller than the sponge daubers, I used a Q-tip to apply Summer Starfruit ink to the flower centers.  The leaves were cut from leftover DSP I had in Pear Pizzaz – a color coming back!  (See Color Refresh chart here).

My finishing touch was with the help of some strategically placed Dazzling Diamonds.
