This week is a milestone for Mojo Monday; the weekly sketch challenge blog where anyone, and everyone, is invited to play along! I love participating in sketch challenges because they help me develop & hone my paper crafting skills by stretching myself a little bit It’s also so rewarding when people leave comments about your project! So the big milestone is that this is the 300th weekly sketch challenge! Congrats Mojo Monday!

I needed to get a jump start on my July Birthday cards and this sketch was just what I needed to get my mojo on! I couldn’t wait to start using my new Birthday Basic DSP: I just love the colors and the fun & festive patterns of this Designer Series paper. The “Create a Cupcake” stamp set & builder punch coordinate with the birthday theme.

Mojo Monday 275

The design team over at Mojo Monday gave us yet another great sketch to work with this week. Check out the sketch to the left, I can see so many possibilities. I needed to whip up a quick birthday card for a friend who will be celebrating her birthday later this week and used this sketch as the basis for that card.

I also had some scraps of paper from the Summer Smooches DSP #125409 laying out on my workspace and this sketch is also a great way to use up those strips of paper we all seem to accumulate. So, without any further ado, here’s my card! MojoMonday 275

I love the Blue & Yellow color combination, especially Daffodil Delight and Island Indigo. So crisp and cheerful! The Mixed Blossom stamp set and the coordinating Blossom punch make stamping & cutting out the flower a snap. The flower center is accented with a Glimmer Brad from our Brights Collection.

The sentiment is stamped with our Itty Bitty Banners stamp set and a quick trip through the Big Shot with the coordinating Bitty Banners Framelits , and presto! A perfectly coordinated banner.

Mojo Monday 256

Is it really Thursday already? Really, where did the week go? I didn’t have the time to get started on this Monday night but I did start my card on Tuesday but here it Thursday and I just got finished! It’s been a busy week, that’s for sure!

Well, here is the sketch: We had a choice of either a round or square card.

I made my card square, it was really fun making a card a little different than the standard 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ size.

This card is destined for a friend who is having a birthday tomorrow! Good thing I finally got it finished is all I can say :).

Cool Tools: Big Shot die cutting machine, Textured Impressions Designer Frames embossing folder, Build-a-Bird Punch, 1-1/4″ circle punch, 1-3/8″ circle punch, paper snips

Embellishments: 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon in Raspberry Ripple, Basic Jewels – Pearls.
