Be Mine, Valentine

photo-1   Be Mine, Valentine!  I just love this adorable little bee, and his sweet message.  What better image to adorn this sweet Hershey Nugget treat holder?    Today is the Pals Blog Hop, but I choose not to participate in the blog hop.  Why?  I was transferring the hosting of my blog and had some technical difficulties.  Because I did not want to compromise the blog hop, I chose to not participate; just in case my blog wasn’t up & running in time.  But I still want to show off this little treat holder.

Easy Peasy to make, thanks to our new Scallop Top Tag Punch.  Just cut a piece of cardstock (I used Primrose Petals) to 2″ x 8-1/2″.  Score at 3-1/2″ and 4-7/8″ then punch each end.  Wrap Hershey Nuggets in coordinating DSP (I used 2012-2014 In Color DSP).  Cut the DSP to 1″ x 3-1/2″.  I placed four nuggets in the treat holder, folded it up and tied it together with Raspberry Ripple ribbon.  The bee was stamped in Smoky Slate ink, and punched with the full heart punch.  Another heart was punched in Raspberry Ripple cardstock and the two hearts were adhered to the face of the treat holder.  A tiny heart from the owl builder punch fits perfectly inside the bee’s wing.

Easy enough to churn these out by the dozen!  So be the coolest mom in school when you send your child to school with these sweet treats for Valentine’s.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Love is in the air….

Frilly, roses, lace, chocolate – these are the things I think of when I think of Valentine’s Day.  So, while I usually don’t do frilly & lacey or vintage, I really wanted to do that for my Valentine’s Day Card.  So here it is:

Valentine's Day, hearts, roses, double bow, order Stampin Up, Stampin Up products, lace, Hearts a Flutter, Nancy GleasonWell, what do you think?  Please leave me a comment and let me know.     My initial inspiration was two-fold:  I fell in love with the Artisan Embellishment Kit (Spring Catalog pg. 10) as soon as I saw it.  I don’t know why because I normally don’t do all that frilly.  Maybe it was because for only $10 I was able to get a whole bunch of embellishments that I normally wouldn’t buy if I had to purchase each item individually.   I can branch out into the vintage world without a big cash outlay.

My second inspiration was the Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding.  I knew just the bow I wanted to make for my card.  The Seam Binding ribbon falls so nicely and makes the perfect ‘romantic’ bow.  My Valentine’s Day card wouldn’t be complete without this bow!  The bow is my favorite part, especially with the seam binding ribbon rose in the center.

Putting it all together, I had predetermined my color combo would be Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake & a touch of Chocolate Chip for an accent color.  But when I pulled all my colors out, the Crumb Cake seemed too overpowering for this card.  So I dialed it down a notch by using Sahara Sand in its place.  I love Sahara Sand, so neutral but not plain Jane.  Beautiful & Soft.  Yup, that was the right color.  And Chocolate Chip gave way to Early Espresso as it just seemed to fit better.  As always, I start with a plan but let my creativity take over and just go in the direction things are calling me.

The hearts were stamped and die cut using the Hearts A Flutter stamp set and coordinating Framelits Die.   I love when I can get a stamp set and the coordinating framelits dies, and it’s even better when you can buy them as a bundle and save a bundle!  They were accented with Smooch Spritz in Vanilla Shimmer because every Valentine needs a smooch!  The heart on the right was outlined with our Pearl Basic Jewels.

The large lacey ribbon is part of the Artisan Embellishment kit. The fabric roses are the 5/8″ Flower Trim available in the Spring Catalog.  A string of roses; you can cut them apart to use individually or use a length as I did here.   They can be colored with our ink for endless possibilities!  Love them!

The sentiment is provided by Itty Bitty Banners stamp set and the coordinating Bitty Banners Framelits Dies.

I hope my hubby loves this card as much as I enjoyed making it.   Paired with a Dove Milk Chocolate bar (that’s his fav!) and I think I’ll get my message across!

And who knows, you just may see some more vintage, lacy & feminine from me in the future!

Thanks for stopping into My Stampin Space and sharing Valentine’s Day with me.  Come back & hang out with me again.

Wishing You Happiness…

I was inspired to make this quick little Valentine’s project after teaching a class on Digitial Scrapbooking last week.

valentines-001What I love about digital designing is that you can try out different color combos, embellishments, stamps, and not waste any paper!  Every stamped image always looks good, no more uneven stamped images, or mis-cut paper.  The undo key is a digi-scrappers best friend!  I love being able to color each part of an image in a different color.  I used the re-color option to color each part of the stamp in different color on the card above.    If you would like to try out digi-scrapping without any commitment, click here or on the free 30-day trial of MDS2 on the right and get started.

And we know that you probably have lots of digital photos just waiting to be inserted into a digital scrapbook!  So go ahead, you’ll have fun!
