Cut it Out! The Pals Blog Hop

Welcome to the August 2017 Pals Blog Hop. Thank you so much for joining us today. This month we’re going to “Cut It Out”.  Participants will feature projects with “cuts” from punches, dies, Framelits, Edgelits, or Thinlits.

Whether you’re just starting the hop, or have come from a previous Pal’s blog, you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along.

Please take a minute to mark your calendar for our next hop on September 13, 2017 for “My Favorite Season”.   Now hop along using the Blog Hop Line-up below. Thank you so much for hopping with the Stampin’ Pretty Pals today. Don’t forget to leave us a comment. We’d love to hear what you have to say about our creative “Cuts”.

Well, it’s no secret that I love the product coordination that Stampin’ Up! offers. And I love punches, so when there’s a punch or die that easily cuts out the shape of a stamped image, I’m all in!

One of the first stamp sets/bundles that I HAD TO HAVE from the 2017/18 Annual Catalog was the Lemon Zest bundle.  I love these fun, zesty lemons and the sassy sayings that go along with them!  The coordinating Lemon Builder Punch makes it (oh, I just have to say it…)  “Easy-Peasy, Lemon Squeezy” to cut out the lemons and leaves.  The 1-3/4″ circle punch is perfectly sized to cut out the citrus fruit slices.

Life is Short... Live It With Zest! Cut it out with the Lemon Builder Punch

I taught a class Monday night called “When Life Gives You Lemons”  and it was centered around the Lemon Zest bundle.    I like to teach my students a new technique or a tool, or something that they can use to increase their papercrafting skills.  The teachable lesson in this class was to make backgrounds, especially when you might want, but don’t have, a coordinating Designer Series Paper.  We used the smaller of the 2 leaves to randomly stamp the leaf onto Whisper White cardstock.  The result was a coordinating patterned background that compliments the focal point, the lemons.  It’s hard to see in this photo, but the lemon slices are accented with Wink of Stella which gives them a juicy glow!

If Life Gives You Lemons, Chuck Them Right Back!

The next card also used a stamp, this one from Timeless Textures, to create a background on our Whisper White panel.  I think the blue is the perfect color to compliment the lemons.  The Marina Mist is an under-used, but perfect shade of blue for almost any occasion, like denim is a staple in any wardrobe.  The dark Night of Navy just pops against the Daffodil Delight of the lemon, and is perfectly accented by the Night of Navy Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon.   I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS RIBBON!  ‘nough said!  Just buy this crinkled seam binding ribbon in every color!  You can thank me after you hold this soft, flowy in your own hands and tie perfectly flawless bows every time.

To My Main Squeeze

This last card is the first card I made as soon as the Lemon Zest Bundle arrived at my door step!  The citrus slices are stamped as Lime, Lemon & Orange slices and have a piece of Peekaboo Peach Ribbon.  I used the same leaf to stamp a background as I did in the first card of this post.  The sentiment is heat embossed in Whisper White.  Of course,  “To My Main Squeeze”  was meant for my husband!  The card didn’t require a special occasion.  After writing some sappy, lovey-dovey note inside, I tucked it in his lunch box to brighten his day!  A sweet surprise.

Cutting out the lemons, the slices and leaves are a breeze with punches.  I really think that punches are a must-have for any paper crafter, and definitely for someone just starting out.  Basic shapes, like circles, and punches that coordinate with stamps are the best value.  Bundling is an even better value when you can save 10%.

Well I hope that you like my “cuts”.   Please leave me a comment and tell me what you think. Then hop along and see what other project the Pretty Pals have cut out for you.  Come back around and visit me and my blog again.

If you don’t currently have a relationship with another Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, and want to order any of the products I showed here, please feel free to shop my online store.  Your order will be shipped right to your home.

Thanks,

Nancy

Occasionally I like to do this….

Occasionally I like to do this…… Do What?  You’ll see.   First, I want to say that I’m so excited to join an amazing and talented group of crafters to play along with the TicTacToe Challenge this week. I am also excited that I got to break out my new stamp set “Touches of Texture” and the scallop edge die from the Seasonal Layers framelits for this project.

So without any further ado, here is my project.  simple floral for the TTTC03

I used Calypso Coral for the background, a strip of DSP from the Color Theory Designer Paper Stack which I cropped with the scallop border.  A rectangle of Whisper White cardstock was layered with a piece of Old Olive and stamped with the floral image from the “Touches of Texture”  stamp set using Sahara Sand ink.  I broke out my WaterColor pencils and Blender pen to give the flowers and leaves some color.  A simple bow made from the new 3/8″ Mini Chevron Ribbon in Old Olive tied the whole project together!  (Did you catch my pun there: the ribbon “TIED” the whole project together? – of course you did.)

Here is the TicTacToeChallenge that inspired this piece. TicTacToeChallenge 003

You’ll see that I  chose the Right Side Down – bow, scallop & rectangle for my card.  Feel free to visit the TicTacToeChallenge page to see what others did with this challenge and be inspired to use this as a springboard to make your own projects.

Now to answer the big question.  What do I like to do occasionally?  Well, it’s more ‘not do’ than ‘do’ – I purposely chose to not put a sentiment on my card, to just leave it blank.  The soft tones and floral design lends itself to many occasions and I thought it would be good to make a few of these cards to have on hand.  I can always throw a sentiment on the inside of the card, or just leave blank to write a personal note.  Either way, this is an easy card to re-produce.  If you want to purchase any of the supplies I used to make this card, please shop my online store.  Or just click on any of the product names above or below in the supply list.

Sign up for my mailing list here to receive my (almost) weekly email.   Please leave me a comment and tell me whether you like a sentiment on every card your make, or if you like to make a card without a sentiment every now and again.

Thanks for stopping by My Stampin’ Space.  Come back soon.

I did something last night that I haven’t done in 25 years!

Hi Friends,
Ok, so I may be giving my age away here, but I did something last night that I haven’t done in 25 years, maybe more!  Truth is I haven’t done this in so long that I can’t exactly remember the last time I did it, but boy it sure did bring back some fun memories.  No, it wasn’t illegal!  No, it wasn’t anything childish.
I went to the Drive-In Movies!
Drive in Movie theater
With my husband & son.  It was SO.MUCH.FUN!   I’ve been planning this, and looking forward to it, all week, and I’m so  glad the weather was nice!  My son, who is 24, has never been to a drive-in movie theater so I know it’s been at least that long.  Actually, I have never been to a drive-in since moving to PA and that’s been over 30 years ago!
Gone are the days of the old metal speakers that you hung on the car window, although the poles were still there. (Does anyone else remember them?) Now, the movies are in HD and you tune your radio to a specific frequency to hear the audio.
We saw Cars 3.   The movie was a double-feature with Pirates of the Caribbean – Dead Men Tell No Lies but we didn’t stay for that movie.
Cars 3 was FABULOUS!   I really love the Cars movies.  I think it’s because of the friendship between all the characters.  You’ve got so many different personalities but everyone works together and everyone encourages one another to use their gifts and talents, and to unite together for the greater good.  No one is too old or too rusty to be useful.  I think it is a beautiful picture of how life could be if we all just valued one another, rather than trying to compete with one another.
It was a wonderful, heart-warming story and the story has been with me all evening and all day today.  I love a good sappy movie that stays with you long after you’ve watched it.
The Cars community actually reminds me of my online Community, the Pals.  We are a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators under Mary Fish, my upline, from all over the country.  Some are old, some are young, some are new to stamping and some have been around a while.  Some are business builders, many others are hobby-ists.  But we all share a common love of stamping and it is the most positive, uplifting, community and it’s a place that I love to hang out in.  If you would love to belong to a group like that, than please email me  or just join now.
I hope that you have something fun planned for your weekend.  Maybe you can take your Dad, your hubby and your kids to see Cars 3 for Father’s Day!
But whatever you do, I hope you manage to carve out some time to get in your Craft Room and do something creative for yourself.
My Paper Pumpkin kit came yesterday and I know I will be get that all inked up this weekend (you can see the June kit on my facebook page).
If you want to subscribe to Paper Pumpkin, or order some other supplies from the new catalog, just click here or on the catalog cover below to go to my online store. Please use Host Code PMNEDFV3 for your order less than $150.- thanks!
Be sure to check my blog and my facebook page regularly to be inspired and stay on top of current promotions.
Thanks,
Nancy

Meet the New 2017-19 In Colors!

Well you saw the unveiling of all of my new products from my pre-order, if you follow me on Facebook. I did a live video of me unpacking my box from Stampin’ Up! with all of the new products I ordered. One of most anticipated items of the annual catalog release is the new In-Colors. Every year, Stampin’ Up! introduces 5 new colors, they are trendy colors and are only with us for 2 years. and they are called In-Colors. They are in addition to the standard color collections (Neutrals, Regals, Brights & Subtles). So at any given time, we have 10 In-Colors, and every year, 5 retire and 5 more are introduced.
Here are the 5 new In-Colors for 2017-2019.
2017-19 In Colors

I’ve made some quick comparisons so you can see the new colors alongside  our favorite colors.  You’ll see that these new colors play well with our existing color palette.

First up is Lemon-Lime Twist.  This color is like  none other that we’ve ever had.  It’s much more Yellow than any green, and much more green than any yellow.  It’s bright and vibrant and will certainly add fun to your projects!

Lemon Lime Twist Color Comparison

Next is Tranquil Tide.  A rich blue-green color, it’s blue-er than Emerald Envy and green-er than Island Indigo.  This color will play well with both of these colors and add a sense of richness to your projects.  Tranquil Tide Color Comparison

Next up is Fresh Fig.  I love this color; it reminds me of our retired, but not forgotten Blackberry Bliss color.  Not quite as dark and rich as that, but it is a deeper color than Rich Razzleberry, but more brown than a true purple like Elegant Eggplant.  Fresh Fig Color Comparison

Berry Burst is going to be a popular, well loved color.  Already I have been seeing this color in alot of clothing.  This sits well between Rose Red and Rich Razzleberry.

Berry Burst Color Comparison

Lastly is Powder Pink.  A pale, subtle color that sits right between our other light pink colors.  Powder Pink Color Comparison

So which color do you think is your favorite?  Please leave me a comment and let me know which color you like best.

While we say hello to new colors, we say goodbye to other retiring colors. If you want to shop the 2015-17 In Colors or order them before they are gone, here is a link to order directly.   Don’t forget to use the April host code Q29AP26B when you order with me and your order is less than $150 before shipping and tax.  Click here to shop online now, and don’t forget to get your favorite retiring items before they are gone for good.

And the Winner of the SuperBowl contest is……

Did you watch the SuperBowl?  Well it sure was an upset victory!  Most of my fans were pulling for Atlanta and it sure looked like they were going to win, and then, The Patriots scored and tied in the final minutes and into overtime they went!

The New England Patriots won the game!!!

So here’s the deal;   I counted up my New England Patriots votes, and randomly selected a number, #3, which is Vicky Blackwell!

Superbowl Contest Winner

Congrats to the Vicky Blackwell  – you just won the SuperBowl!   Well, okay, not really the SuperBowl, but it might feel like it when the confetti starts falling all around you, and your fans rush the field to get your autograph, and the cameras are flashing all around you….

Vicky please contact me with your mailing address so I can send your loot to you.  You have until midnight on Wednesday, Feb. 8th.  Party Animal EmbellishmentsYou can email me or PM me on my Facebook page.  I’ll get your winnings right out to you.

Teaching a New Technique

I teach classes regularly, and I just love getting together with a bunch of people, having fun, and stamping!  Mostly I love watching someone who has never stamped put ink to paper for the first time!  And watching them as they complete their first project successfully never gets old!  I also love sharing new techniques with my students and watching them add a new skill to their paper crafting arsenal!  My classes usually are 2 projects, and I try to not only make a project that is fun and seasonally, but also to include a new tip, trick ,or technique.  I want my students to learn something too, not just make something.

Tonight I wanted to teach heat embossing, as several of the newer regular students have never done that. My upline Lisa Pretto shared a card that she made that I just had to totally CASE (copy and selective edit)!  It was just perfect for my class.  This card includes heat embossing (in white) on colored cardstock for the sentiment and heat embossing white on white AND resist embossing!  Win-Win!  So here’s my take on Lisa’s card:  It features the Avant Garden stamp set (free during Sale-A-Bration) stamped with Versamark ink on whisper white cardstock and them embossed with Whisper White embossing powder.  Resist embossing is accomplished by rubbing ink (with the help of a sponge dauber) in a circular motion aroumd the stamped image.  The ink does not stick where the heat embossing is which creates that soft muted background.  A quick ribbon and a little tag with a sentiment is all you need.

I thought this card could be made in any color, or with any sentiment, so I tried it out in a few other colors.  Here it is in Sweet Sugarplum:

And here in Wisteria Wonder.  My MIL’s birthday is this weekend and she loves purple so this is for her.  I stepped it up a notch by adding a Wisteria Wonder cardstock layer under the feature panel.

Which color is your favorite?  I love to read your comments, so please leave me a comment and tell my what you think of this card, and what color you like the best.

I wish you could attend my classes and learn these new techniques with me.  Next class will include sponge brayers and inking up embossing folders.  If you live in NEPA, consider taking this class with me.  Feb. 6th from 6:30-8:45PM.

Don’t forget, you can always order online from me 24/7 thru my online store.  You can access that here.  When shopping, please use January Host Code 2BUYMMWN when placing an order that is less thaln $150.   When shopping, you’ll earn 1 Free Sale-A-Bration item for every $50 you spend (before shipping and sales tax).  The Avant Garden stamp set used for this project is a FREE Sale-A-Bration stamp set.  Want to learn more about Sale-A-Bration?  Click here.

What happened at the Meadowlands?

While most people know the Meadowlands as the place where the NY Giants play,  hundreds of Stampers across the NorthEast gathered together last weekend at the Meadowlands Exposition Center for the Stampin’ Up! convention called OnStage.

I traveled to the OnStage Event in Secaucus, NJ with two of my down-line, and we had a fabulous time!  It was a fun-filled time spent with my downline, and other demo’s from the Northeast.  OnStage included time to see new products, stamp and create with those products, recognition for the top demonstrators (including my upline Mary Fish, #1 Demonstrator in the WORLD!!), training from top leaders at Stampin’ UP! and of course, the new catalogs!

Here I am with Kathy Snyder & Lynn Pahoski enjoying ourselves at the hotel.

Either way, you’ll want to start saving today, because there are so many fabulous products in these new catalogs, that your wish list is going to be huge.  (BTW – I offer Gift Certificates.   When your loved ones ask what you want for Christmas, tell them you want Stampin’ UP!  – have them contact me to order a gift certificate, or better yet, fill out a Wish List.  List the items you want, or the $ amount of a gift certificate, and the names of people who normally shop for you.  Get your list back to me and I’ll contact your people on your behalf.

What’s all the Fun About?

This past weekend, I finally got to play with some of new goodies from the holiday catalog!  It took me long enough, but I sure did have lots of fun!  What’s all the fun about?  Halloween Night – the new product suite from the 2016 Holiday catalog.  If you know me, you know how I love product coordination and all of the stamps and dies and accessories in this product suite play so well together!

First, I just had to play with my Halloween scenes Edgelit dies. This is what I made:

Halloween Scenes

Isn’t this so much fun?  I just love these dies.  And they pair so well with our new Foam Adhesive Strips (#141825).  They are strips of stampin’ dimensionals and I used them to prop up the fence layer to create that look of dimension between the fence and tree layer.

Notice the little bow?  It’s the new Kraft Rope Trim.  I love this because it so thick.  It is actually 3 strands braided together; I separated the 3 strands and used just one!

I had a class tonight and the ladies in my class really loved this set and making this card too!

We made another project too, but you’ll have to come back tomorrow to see that project!

Not just for Rednecks!

I have to admit when I first saw the Wonderland stamp set in the 2015 Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog, I did like the trees and especially the sentiments, but I wasn’t really digging the antlers.  Well, I finally caved, and ordered the set, because I thought that my son, who is a big Duck Dynasty fan, and self-proclaimed redneck, might like it.

Well, I found the cutest way to use the antlers!  I’m sure you’ll agree, these antlers are not for rednecks, but for Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer!

IMG_5789Adorable, right?  I made this in my last class and the girls LOVED it!  It is so quick and simple to make too.  And the folks over at Merry Monday Christmas Challenge decided this week to include a deer in your card, so I’ll be submitting this to their challenge too.

Whisper White paper cut to 2″ wide and 4-1/4″ long was shaped in the Scallop Tag Topper Punch.  The Antlers from Wonderland are stamped with Soft Suede ink, as well as the To/From from Festival of Trees stamp set.  The eyes are punched from Early Espresso cardstock using the Owl Builder Punch.  The nose in this sample was punched with Real Red cardstock, but in my class, we used the larger dot from the Home For Christmas Enamel Dots.  A little white hi-light on the eyes using the Signo White marker and your done!  We added a 2-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ strip of Real Red cardstock and tied them together with the 1/8″ Real Red Ribbon.  Easy Peasy!

I know you are going to want to make this yourself, but you’ll have to hurry.  Stampin’ Up! just released a Retiring Products List from the Holiday catalog and this stamp will be retiring 🙁

No worries, you can still get it now, but pretty soon it will be too late, and then you’ll just be sad that you missed out.  Now would be the time to snag this stamp set and stock up on the Enamel Dots and ribbon too!

So, shop the RETIRING PRODUCTS LIST, while you’re there, check out the WEEKLY DEALS and the CLEARANCE RACK for some great deals, too!

Check out my facebook page;  I’ve created a photo album of projects using the Wonderland Stamp set.  This set is so versatile and so much fun, that I’m having a hard time putting it down!  You’ll be inspired by the many projects you can make with this set.

How to make a Double Loop Bow Video

Hi Stampers,  I featured a Double-Loop bow on a card I made recently:Double Loop Bow

(you can see the full post here) and today I want to share a video that shows you step-by-step how to make that beautiful Double Loop Bow.  Grab your popcorn and sit back & enjoy the show:

It may take some practice so grab a piece of ribbon and just play around.  I found I needed to make this bow several times before I finally got the hang of it;  I just untied and remade the bow until I finally got it.   You may also need to ‘fuss’ with the  loops & tails a little but I find that the glue dot holds the bow in place.  On the card featured above, I wrapped a piece of the ribbon around the card and secured it in the back.  Then I made the bow and just adhered it with a glue dot onto the ribbon.

MORE VIDEOS COMING SOON!  I am investing in training & new equipment to produce better quality videos and am planning on producing more & more videos so we can stamp together virtually!  Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think of my video.  Also, please feel free to tell me what videos you’d like to see.   Is there a certain technique you’d like to learn?  A stampin’ related question that you’d like to ask?  I want to make videos that YOU want to see, so please give me your feedback!    Thanks 🙂  This technology will allow me offer VIRTUAL STAMP CLUBS soon so watch for more details.

LIVE CLASSES:  If you are in Northeast PA and want to stamp with me live, I have 2 open, upcoming classesMonday, May 18th from 6:30-8:45 PM that will feature masculine cards.  Monday, June 1st (same time) is a class centered around Celebrations (birthdays & graduations).  The class fee of $12 includes ALL SUPPLIES so you only have to bring your smile!   Please email me if you would like to RSVP or have questions.

Thanks for stopping by My Stampin Space today.  Please head over to my YouTube channel and subscribe so that you won’t miss any future videos from me.  If you are on Pinterest, please help me out by pinning this so others can see it too!

Thanks, see you soon,

Sayin’ Farewell to Mixed Bunch

IMG_4758I made this card with a class a few months ago, and I just LOVE it!  I love how the Daffodil Delight just pops against the Black & White.  I also like how I was able to make my own background “DSP” with a stamp set.

I just used the large flower image, and stamped in Momento Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock to create the background.  Then I used the small circle image to stamp a few images onto a scrap of Whisper White, and punched them out with a circle punch.  I glued those onto the flowers to make that custom background.  I’ve used this treat many times, and often I’ve reached for Mixed Bunch to make that happen.  So sad that this trusty, go-to flower set is retiring!

I just had to share with you this card again.   If you think you would like this seretired stamp playing golft before it goes away, then you’d better pick it up quickly. In a few short weeks, it will be gone, retired to Florida to play golf all day!

My supply list is below for those of you who want to recreate this card, or order supplies to make this yourself.  My online store is always open!   Click here to shop now.
