The RETIRED LIST is here!

Without any further adieu, here it is:

The Retired List – (PDF Format)

THE RETIRED LIST (SORTABLE EXCEL FILE)

As announced previously, Stampin’ Up! will be retiring the MDS (My Digital Studio) software line.  While you can continue to use the software, you will no longer be able to purchase downloads after May 31.  All MDS downloads are on sale at 30% off

MDS RETIRED LIST – (PDF FORMAT)

MDS RETIRED LIST (SORTABLE EXCEL FILE)

ON-LINE STORE

The days leading up to the Retired List are usually full of anticipation and speculation for me.  When the list finally posts, I usually curl up on the couch with a red ink pen, my catalog and the list.  I go thru each page, item by item, and carefully put a red “R” (for Retired) next to each item that is retiring.  (I also put a black check mark next to every item as I purchase it so I know what I have and what I don’t!)

This way I can see what I have that is retiring (you might find this soon in the Yard Sale page of my blog), and what I don’t have that I’ll really miss if it retires and I don’t have it.

The latter will cause me to spring into action, and order that item before it is gone.   I’ve let that happen once or twice and I’m still bummed by the things I’ve missed because I waited too long!  Grab a sponge to catch my tears.

Once an item goes on the Retired List, availability is while supplies last.  Last year, the retiring In Colors sold out within days.  I fully anticipate that happening here.  If you want it, get it while you can or you’ll be crying too!

So when you hop online to start shopping for the ‘must-have’ items from the retired list, don’t forget about the Clearance Rack (recently updated) and the Weekly Deals either (new today!).  That way you’ll score some really good deals all the way around.  Don’t forget the New Items either.

What is the item you are going to miss the most?  Leave me a comment and let me know.  Then share with me what item you really want from the Retiring List that you don’t already have.

Enjoy shopping the retired list.

A challenging Color Challenge

I have this funny thing about combining different shades of reds, or even red & orange.  So when I saw the color challenge for the Paper Players was Calypso Coral, Real Red, & Black, my first thought was, ooh, I don’t think I am going to like this.  But that thought only lasted a fraction of second, quickly followed by the thought that the Stacked with Love Specialty Designer Paper was Real Red, Crisp Canteloupe and Calypso Coral along with Black & White.  Fear and doubt were quickly replaced with thoughts of easy peasy!

I love when Stampin’ Up! makes things so easy.   I knew exactly what I wanted to make too, and it wasn’t a card.

photo 1(3)I made a banner using Real Red, Calypso Coral, Black and White.  Here is a close-up shot of the banner.

photo 3(2)

photo 2(2)The solid color cardstock forms the backdrop for the pennants.  I cut Real Red and Calypso Coral into 2″ x 3″ triangles.  And cut the little letters from Basic Black cardstock using the Little Letters Thinlits dies.

The Stacked with Love DSP gave me the fun part!  I used the 1-1/4″ Scalloped Circle Punch to create little backdrops for my letters and little banners for the spacer pennants.

photo(9)I just love how the patterned paper pulls all those colors together so beautifully and makes easy work for me to play along with the Paper Players Color Challenge this week!

Be Mine BannerIf you’d like to see what the Paper Players did with this color challenge, head on over.   Challenge yourself and play along.  I’d love to see what you create with this color combination!.

If you’d like to order any of the supplies I used to make this banner, you can click here to shop on line.  Don’t forget, with Sale-A-Bration in full swing, you can earn a free item for every $50 you purchase.

It took a vocabulary lesson for me to like this stamp set

When I opened the Occasions catalog for the first time, I was hoping for a really nice Valentine’s Day stamp set.  I have to be truthful, I really didn’t like the You Plus Me stamp set because I didn’t know what the word ‘twitterpated’ meant.  I really didn’t want this stamp set because of that.  I loved the font but not the word.  As a matter of fact, I bought the paper during the pre-order but not the stamp set.

And then, I got the bright idea to look up the definition of that word, and when I did, I fell in love the word!  So if you are like me and don’t know the meaning of the word twitterpated, here is a vocabulary lesson for you too.

adjective, Informal.
1. excited or overcome by romantic feelings; smitten.
Origin:1942; first used in the movie Bambi; twitter + -pated
adj.

1942, apparently first attested in the Walt Disney movie “Bambi” (there also was a song by that name but it was not in the studio release of the film), a past participle adjective formed from twitter + pate (n.2) “head” (cf. flutterpated, 1894).

Thumper: Why are they acting that way?
Friend Owl: Why, don’t you know? They’re twitterpated.
Flower, Bambi, Thumper: Twitterpated?
Friend Owl: Yes. Nearly everybody gets twitterpated in the springtime. For example: You’re walking along, minding your own business. You’re looking neither to the left, nor to the right, when all of a sudden you run smack into a pretty face. Woo-woo! You begin to get weak in the knees. Your head’s in a whirl. And then you feel light as a feather, and before you know it, you’re walking on air. And then you know what? You’re knocked for a loop, and you completely lose your head!
Thumper: Gosh, that’s awful.

Isn’t that adorable? Well, know that I now what Twitterpated means, I really like the word.  And yes, I caved I bought the stamp set! (If I bought the stamp set and Stacked with Love Paper stack together, I could have saved 15%).   And it was the perfect stamp to use to create this card just for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.  Here is the sketch:

And here is my answer to the challenge:

IMG_4600[1]I have to say that I just love this stamp set, I love the twitterpated sentiment with the little heart, and I love the paper.  This simple sketch really lets the elements shine because it’s not too busy.  The wonderful Stacked With Love paper stack did all the work for when it came to choosing the fabulous color combination of Real Red & Crisp Canteloupe.  The patterns are fun and the heart was a cinch to crop out using the Heart framelits dies.  I used Versamark ink and White embossing powder to heat emboss the sentiment onto the Real Red card stock.  A little flower punched from the same paper adds a finishing touch.  Here’s a close-up of the sentiment.

IMG_4601[1]

Stop over at the Freshly Made Sketches blog to see what others have done with this sketch.  And challenge yourself;  use this sketch to create a card yourself!  It’s a simple sketch that has so many possibilities, you’ll probably find yourself going back to this sketch layout time and time again.

So now that you now what Twitterpated means, do you love it as much as I do?  If you’d like to purchase the You Plus Me stamp set, make sure you bundle it with the Stacked With Love Designer Series Paper Stack and save 15%.  You can order this bundle, and any other items thru my secure on-line store here.

Thanks for stopping by My Stampin’ Space.  Come back soon.  If you like what you saw, please sign up for my mailing list (on the right) so you don’t miss a single blog post, video, any other info.  Like me facebook, and follow me on Pinterest, too!   Thanks,

Winter Wishes Pals Blog Hop

Welcome to the last Pals Blog Hop of 2014. This month we want to help you start your holiday wish list by sharing projects featuring our favorite Stampin’ Up! papers, stamps, tools and accessories. Get your wish list ready as you move along through the blog hop.

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Patti MacLeith www.papercraftsbypatti.com on the Pals Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the project.

When I first saw the 2014 Holiday Catalog, I pretty much wanted the whole catalog!  I found myself marking my catalog, not by products that I wanted, but by pages!  Seriously, I wanted everything on page 5 and page 43, and so on!  (And I did actually buy almost everything in that catalog too, by the way!)  But I knew that Ornamental Pine was the set that I would use to make most of the Christmas cards that I would mail out.

Here is my most favorite card I’ve made yet using the Ornamental Pine Stamp Set

IMG_4264[1]

I started with a card base of Soft Sky and stamped the pine needle image in Lost Lagoon.  I added a Lost Lagoon banner that was cropped using the Project Life framelits to balance out the Lost Lagoon color on the card.

Then I thought I wanted to step up the card a notch; so I recreated the card but this time added a  Lost Lagoon panel.  Here is my stepped up card:

IMG_4265[1]

What do you think?  The little panel really adds a lot, doesn’t it?   A simple one-layer card is always nice but I really think adding a layer of a contrasting color just adds a whole dimension and really makes it classy.

Here they are side by side so you can really see the difference:

IMG_4266[1]

Nothing wrong with the 1-layer card, but the added layer just makes the card look more finished and polished, at least that’s what I think, and I’m sure you’ll agree because I know that great minds think alike 🙂

But the jewels on this card are the pinecones.   I heat embossed the pinecones in Pewter embossing powder onto Whisper White card stock.  My heat embossing tool is one of my favorite tools.   I used my paper snips (another tool I couldn’t live without!  – proof that all scissors are NOT created equal) to fussy cut the pinecones.  The pewter pinecones and the ‘snow’ resting gently on some of the pine needles add just enough sparkle without going into glitter overload.  I know you really want to see the sparkle up close so here it is:

IMG_4260-001Yes, the snow capped pinecones look so real you don’t believe that I stamped them.  You think I went outside, picked some pinecones from my pine trees, don’t you?  Nope, they are stamped, heat embossed, fussy cut & popped up on a stampin’ dimensional.

See the snow glistening on the pine needles?  I used my white chalk marker to draw snow on some of the pine needles and then added a little bit of Dazzling Details to select snow.

How did I get such a crisp white sentiment on the Lost Lagoon cardstock?  Heat embossing.  Great for putting light colors on darker colored cardstock.

Because I chose to make a square card, and a fairly large square at 5″ x 5″, my Envelope Punch Board is another favorite tool of mine.  It makes simple work of making custom sized envelopes so my cards are no longer limited to a standard size envelope, leaving me free to create whatever works best for me and the stamp set I’m working with.  How liberating is that?

To recap: Ornamental Pine is my favorite stamp set from the Holiday Catalog and the heat embossing tool, the paper snips and Envelope Punch Board are my favorite, must-have, can’t live without tools.  If you don’t already have them, be sure to put them on your wish list.  Then let your friends & family know that you have a wish list, and let them know that your wish list can be fulfilled right here!

BTW, I’ve seen the 2015 Occasions Catalog AND the Sale-A-Bration catalog and all I can say is you better have lots of paper;  you’re wish list is going to be very long!  The good news is that the more you buy from the Occasions catalog, the more you’ll get in FREE items from the Sale-A-Bration catalog.   If you are a regular customer of mine, than your catalog is on its way to you.  If you are not, but you’d like to be, just contact me. I’d be happy to be your demonstrator if you don’t already have a relationship with another demonstrator.

So now, please tell me which card you like best, and if you enjoy heat embossing as much as I do, or if you’ve never heat embossed at all.  Then hop along to see the rest of the projects from our amazing talented Pals.    The next stop is Maggie Mata at www.MaggieMadeCards.com on the Pals Blog Hop!

Thanks for visiting and I hope to see you in 2015.

Cool School Tools – August Pals Blog Hop

Welcome to My Stampin Space and to the Pals Blog Hop for August. This month we are showing off our favorite crafting tools – those Stampin’ Up! tools that we just can’t live without. We hope you enjoy our projects!

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Lynn Kolcun at Stamping with Avery’s Owlery #22 on the Pals Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

I need to thank the Pals for planning the Blog Hop on my son’s birthday so the immediate world can see the cards I’ve made for his birthday.  My  ‘little boy’ turns 22 today.  He’s grown up to be such a fine young man.     I’ve always loved back to school time; I still love school shopping.  Note books, folders, paper, pencils, markers, crayons, calendars & organizational stuff.  Have you seen all the cool locker accessories?  I never had magnetic pencil cups or mirrors for my locker when I was in school.   But I won’t be doing any school shopping anymore so I have to content myself with buying cardstock, ink, Blendabilities and cool school tools from Stampin’ Up!  Come to think of it, I like that much better!

I had fun playing with the Moustache Framelit die and have made 2 cards for my son using this die.  Tell me which one you like best.

IMG_3676[1]This card uses the Moustache framelits die, and the Word Bubble framelit dies, and the Word Window punch (cut in half) for the eyes.  A simple square card from Crumb Cake cardstock and Basic Black cardstock.  The sentiment is from the stamp set “Just Saying” & is stamped with Tangelo Twist ink onto Whisper White cardstock.  Did you notice how the stamp image and framelit die coordinate so perfectly?IMG_3678[1]For this card, I used a Pumpkin Pie cardstock base, with a layer of Soft Suede cardstock for the background.  This time I cut out 3 moustaches, one each from Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie & Old Olive DSP.  A strip of Very Vanilla cardstock was stamped with Early Espresso ink and uses the sentiment from “Peace, Love & Cupcakes”.  A button and piece of bakers’ twine secure the banner to the cardstock.  Candy dots add just a little bit of whimsy to the moustaches.

Now for my favorite tool – but I can’t narrow it down to just one! The most basic tool that any paper crafter has to have, and usually a first purchase, would be the Stampin’ Trimmer.  Every project starts with paper that needs to be cut, and of all the many brands & models of paper cutters out there, none offer the features & engineering that the Stampin’ Up! trimmer have.  Watch the video and you’ll see why!

I can remember my early days of paper crafting and thinking I would never get a Big Shot; I could never justify spending a hundred bucks on a tool and then needing to spend more money on the embossing folders & dies.  But I hosted a $400 workshop and decided the best way to use my half price was on a Big Shot and my hosting rewards for dies.  My papercrafting was taken to a whole new level and I’ve never looked back!  Now I couldn’t image papercrafting without it!  So the Big Shot, and the Magnetic Platform are my top choices for Cool School Tools!

With the Big Shot & Bundles Promotion going on right now, there’s never been a better time to step up your papercrafting and take the plunge.  Order a Big Shot, get a free Stamp set & Framelit die bundle.  I promise you’ll wonder why you waited so long!  Click here or on the graphic below to see all the stamp & framelit bundles you can get with this promotion!

Double Challenge

IMG_3653[1]I just absolutely love the monochromatic color scheme for the Colour Me! Color Challenge of Pistachio Pudding.  Now the challenge allows you to use any Neutral or Skin Tone color along with Pistachio Pudding but I really wanted to use just Pistachio Pudding & White.  Our DSP Paper Stacks in the 2013-2015 In Colors has several patterns of DSP  and I knew I could combine several patterns and solid cardstock to create a pleasing end result.

Colour Me....! color challengeNow for the layout part, hmm.  Well, the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge provided that!  When I first saw this sketch I knew I wanted to use the Polaroid picture framelit from the On Film Framelits dies set #132969 for the layer that was offset.  For the sentiment I chose Sending Good Thoughts Your Way from the Perfect Pennants stamp set 133230.  I used the arrows framelits, also from the On Film Framelits dies , to crop out some Pistachio Pudding DSP.   A Pistachio Pudding sequin  & stretch ruffle ribbon (now retired) provided the finishing touches.

This card is headed down south to a Paper Crafting friend who is recuperating from surgery.  I hope the soft colors will help convey my wishes for a complete recovery during her post-surgery rehab!

IMG_3653Please tell me what you think of my card and how I used a color challenge and sketch challenge to create it!  Do you like the way the embossed card stock & different patterns of DSP work together to create a pleasing coordinated look?  Thanks for your comments.  I love to hear from you.

If you would like to purchase any of these products, please know that I strive to give the best customer service possible when you choose to place your order with me!  I value the confidence you place in me when you choose to order from me.  Feel free to click on any of the links above or just click here to go directly to my on-line store where you can shop securely  from the comfort of your home & have your order shipped directly to you.

Before you head off, keep in mind that the full line of Blendabilities is now available for customer order.

And we have our Big Shot promotion going on.  If you don’t have a Big Shot, now is great time to seriously ramp up your papercrafting!  When you purchase a Big Shot, you can get an exclusive Stamp Set & Coordinating Framelit die set FOR FREE!  If you already own a Big Shot, then you can still  get the stamp/framelits bundles for a 15% discount!

Come back Wednesday and join me and few of my Paper Crafting Pals for a Blog Hop showcasing our favorite School Tools!   I’m sure the Big Shot will be taking center stage as most crafter’s favorite tool!.  Come see what the Pals will be making with all of their tools!

Better Get Better, My Friend

Well I just read a post in Facebook that a customer turned friend of mine, is going in the hospital for surgery tomorrow!  So naturally I ran down to My Stampin’ Space to make her a card.

The sketch was inspired by the Mojo Monday sketch challenge and the delicious color combination came from The Paper Players Color Challenge # PP204.

IMG_3596I sure hope that this will brighten the day of my friend while she is recuperating!  I think this lovely color combo will make anyone happy.

This is my time playing with the Paper Players!  I’m excited to participate in their challenge.

I used Lost Lagoon, Blackberry Bliss, and Mossy Meadow (all new colors from Stampin’ Up!’s 2014-16 In-Color collection) and Wisteria Wonder for my color palette.  I used the hostess set “Bloom With Hope” for the flowers which were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored using the blender pens and classic ink.  The sentiment comes from A Dozen Thoughts.  The icing on the cake comes from the Wisteria Wonder Seam Binding Ribbon.  It makes such drapey bows, so feminine!  I love seam binding ribbon and I’m so glad that so many new colors have been added!.

Thanks for stopping by My Stampin’ Space today!  Please feel free to leave me a comment and let me know how you like this card.  If you are inspired to make this card, and need to order any supplies; click here to go to my store, or click on any item below.

Happy Stampin’,

Nancy

New Catalog Pals Blog Hop

Welcome to the June Pals Blog Hop. This month we are excited to show off new Stampin’ Up! products from the just released 2014-15 annual catalog and idea book. We hope you find great inspiration from the projects. Get your wish list ready!

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Deb Simonis on the Pals Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

June Blog Hop

One of my favorite new products in the new 2014/15 Catalog is the new In-Color Collection!  I am learning to love all of the new colors.  I immediately gravitated towards Blackberry Bliss and Hello, Honey, and the beautiful combination those two colors made.  I’m now really learning to appreciate Lost Lagoon and it really stands well on its’ own.  It really needs just a pop of color, just an accent, to make this color shine.   This card shows off how beautiful Lost Lagoon is.

The image is the stamp “Blended Bloom“.  This large flower bloom is so versatile; it’s a perfect stamp for watercoloring, or coloring with our new Blendabilities markers, but it also is a great stamp on it’s own.  I chose to stamp this image and the sentiment in Lost Lagoon ink on whisper white cardstock and layer it on top of a piece of DSP from the Moonlight DSP paper stack.

The new 3/8″ stitched satin ribbon is so lovely; it’s soft & silky but stands up to hold a bow and knots so beautifully.  The ribbon adorning this card is also Lost Lagoon and it is available in all 5 of the new in-colors.    A little accent of Hello, Honey and a rhinestone jewel provide just the right accent and pop of color.

Do you recognize the sentiment?  If you subscribe to My Paper Pumpkin then you will.  It was part of the “Hey, Man” May kit.  If you are not a subsciber to the Paper Pumpkin kit, then what are you waiting for?  This is the monthly craft kit that comes to your doorstep each month, providing you all the supplies you need to make a project each month.   You can get your magical paper crafting escape right here and join the fun each month.  Click here for all the deets on My Paper Pumpkin.

“Out With the Old” Pals Blog Hop!

Welcome to the May Pals Blog Hop. This is the first hop on our new day – the 2nd Wednesday of the month. Before we celebrate the release of the new Stampin’ Up! catalog next month, we want to take time to say goodbye to our favorite retiring products. This month we are showcasing projects that feature stamps or accessories that are retiring along with the 2013-14 Idea Book & Catalog on June 4th.

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Jackie Diediker at Stampin’ Jackie  Stop #4 on the Pals Hop.   If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog.

IMG_3402  Good-bye, Hello!  Thanks for stopping by My Stampin’ Space!  Today’s project features a Stamp Set and colors that we are saying “Good-bye” to.  So, good-bye “Hello”.

The sentiment comes from the stamp set “My Friend” which will be retiring.  I just love the swirls in the lettering!  Who wouldn’t enjoy getting a card in the mail with such a pretty, swirly ‘hello’.  I heat embossed the sentiment in Early Espresso on top of a watercolor technique background of Midnight Muse, Gumball Green, & Summer Starfruit.  All of these colors are 2012-2014 In-Colors which means they are retiring also.  A piece of Summer Starfruit baker’s twine adds another pop of color.  The panel was popped up using Stampin’ Dimensionals onto a piece of Midnight Muse Cardstock.  The card base measures 5-1/2″ x 3″ which means it needs a custom envelope!  The envelope punch board turned a piece of In-Color DSP into a custom envelope in a jiffy! IMG_3404

I made the same panel again but this time, I placed it on a Gumball Green card base.  Which do you like better?

I love these three colors together;  blue, green & yellow are color families that just pair so well together.   Now, I have to admit that I did not like Summer Starfruit when I first saw it.  But the first time I paired it with Gray, my mind was changed in a heartbeat!  I just love Summer Starfruit and Basic Gray together.

Tell me what you think when you see these colors together.  So Sorry - gray  Don’t you just love it?  I’m so sorry to see Summer Starfruit go!   “So Sorry” is another stamp set that is retiring also.  I’m also sorry to say ‘good-bye” to this stamp set too.  It’s been my go-to stamp set when I’ve needed to make a sympathy card, a get-well card, or just plain apologize for being a blockhead!

So, there are many things that we are saying good-bye to, but you can still get these items while supplies last before they retire forever at the end of the month.

Check the retired lists here:  (Heads Up:  Many items have already sold out. )

Thanks, Hubby!

My husband surprised me this past weekend.  Our daughter’s wedding reception was on Saturday.  Friday night my husband told me to pack a bag, that we weren’t coming home after the reception!  He wouldn’t tell me where, but told me we would spending the rest of the weekend alone, together.  He even made arrangements for our son and my mother-in-law to get home from the reception, and for someone to stay with our son for the weekend!

So after the reception, he whisked me off to a beautiful bed and breakfast nestled in the countryside of Northeastern PA, in the beautiful town of Montrose.  Now I may be a wee bit biased here, because the Fieldstone Farms Bed & Breakfast is owned by my husband’s cousin.  But that aside, this place is magnificent!  b-b-with-sign2Nestled on 135 acres, the view out the window was of the barn & horse pastures.  A huge pond was the view from the other side of the house.   Birds were flocking to the feeders (yes, I’m a bird-nerd!).  Squirrels were content at the ground below.  The cats kept watch from the windows.  The home itself is quite impressive with the cherry floors & doors, crafted from trees felled right on the property.  The attention to detail in every area of the home’s construction were evident, as in the decor.

IMG_3371Kim made us an awesome breakfast!  (I always take pictures of food, I don’t know why – maybe it’s just because I love to eat and enjoy food that’s as good to look at as it is to eat!)

If you are in Northeast Pennsylvania and want a great place to stay out in the country, where you can get away from it all, this is the place to be!

I did mail a handmade card to Kim & Frank to thank them for a wonderful stay.  But, as I’m writing this post, I’m thinking that I should make a thank you card for my hubby for such a nice surprise getaway!   Stay tuned, I’ll get to work on that and let you know what I create.

But in the meantime, don’t you think it was just so wonderful of my hubby to make all the arrangements, including care for our son, and so many little details to surprise me with an impromtu weekend getaway?  He’s so like that.  Just one of the many reasons why, even after 25 years, I keep falling in love with him over & over!

Thanks for letting me share a little bit about my hubby with you.  Now go stamp something for someone you love; it’ll brighten their day!

Happy Stampin’,

Nancy
